Being new to the Birdville ISD before last year's school year started both of us parents were hopeful that our daughter would have a great experience for her Kindergarten year. Previously coming from Keller ISD, which we both give high praise to, North Ridge Elementary wound up being the WORST school we've had to deal with in 8 years with schools between 2 children. Our daughter's teacher NEVER had anything good to say about her students at the end of the day as was discussed amongst other parents we started communicating with when we felt something was off. Our daughter had been left outside during recess so good child supervision was very clearly lacking. If our daughter ever brought anything up to the teacher (as her parents, we instructed her to let the teacher know if she ever had any issues) she would be punished for "tattling" but when we would talk to her about it later after being informed she'd mention other children shoving her, constantly standing right up on her, etc. We also DESPISE bullying of any kind so it is highly frowned upon by us that the teacher AND principal seem to be so dismissive of these things and seem to be teaching children as young as 5 that their voices are simply not heard. If our daughter got hurt, they'd be slow to inform or wouldn't inform at all and we'd be surprised on pickup. After discussing with other educators from our previous dealings in Keller ISD and us having a child with special needs the shock from them about how this school handled ANYTHING. They're holding onto this Blue Ribbon mentality that hasn't been achieved since the 90's or something and falling short nearly everywhere. Before this upcoming school year has even started their already sending out messaged to parents and staff about prayer as if that isn't offensive to different religions or people that may not believe in it. HIGHLY advise thinking twice about this one. If your child so much as sticks their tongue out, you may never meet their "criteria" again. Pretty sure it's more that they have no clue how to actually handle children as young as 5.
