BCC was overall a good academic experience, with supportive teachers who genuinely help students succeed and prepare for college. On-level and honors classes are manageable, while APs are challenging and stressful. The school offers many APs, honors, and electives. The building is large but not overcrowded, with decent facilities. Guidance counselors are kind but busy, so outside college guidance can be useful. The school is very diverse, with many clubs offered. However, some groups of students push religious beliefs and may pressure vulnerable students into Sunni Islam. Safety incidents like lockdowns, bomb threats, guns on campus, and a carjacking have occurred, but this is common at nearby schools as well. That said, if you choose your friends carefully, avoid negative influences, and stay aware, the environment can be safe and positive. I would say BCC is best for independent, confident, goal-oriented students who make smart choices.

Somerset Elementary school is a diverse, culturally rich, international community, with excellent leadership and staff, and with a very engaged parent community as well. Everyone is welcomed and treated with respect. The school nourishes its international character and celebrates diverse cultures. It also provides academic excellence and individualized approach to students' learning. In our experience so far, it is clear that Somerset sets the children ready for success in further education. Most of the teachers and staff that we encountered would go above and beyond to get the best outcome for their students. We could not be more grateful for being part of Somerset ES community.

I just graduated Westland (Class of 2030) and i will truly miss this school. Teachers are funny, kind, caring, charismatic, and openly care about student learning and progress. The teachers make class actually enjoyable and almost no one skips actively wanting to be in class. As a minority, the school has gotten a lot better with making us feel comfortable in school. With clubs like MSP, star lessons, and most admin, security guards, nurses being minorities themselves. At first, this school seemed scary, and at first it can be. But over time you really enjoy and open up to it. At this school it is as bad as you make it. The only people who fail and do bad are class clowns who actively take take pride in watching people enjoy them acting like a fool even if it means suffering academically. The students themselves do not care about class clowns at all, but they are motivated and hard working. Students and teachers often relate to one another as well. The school focuses A LOT and to some people it seems annoying but they focus on hate and bias and ways to counteract that. Being said the school also works hard to ensure people of all backgrounds get quality education. The students here are HIGHLY intelligent often preform well on tests and retain information. More importantly (well in my opinion) the grades and students form a strong sense of community and trust. To the point where you need something and you go to someone in your grade that you have never talked to ever in your life, and ask them for help they will treat you with their full attention,respect, care, like you have been their closest friend from day one. I would recommend this school to all future middle school scholars!
