I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing experience my child had at Eden Elementary School. Her teachers were wonderful. The principal is awesome. Even the custodian and the lunchroom workers left an impression on my child. I could NOT have asked for a better beginning to my child's education. Thank, Eden faculty and staff, for a job WELL done! :)

I never had a problem with my child or her grades until this year. If I had it to do over I would have sent my child to private school for seventh grade. Now I see why most her friends went to another school this year. Love Pell City School System but I have nothing good to say about Duran South!

This school is the worst in the PCSS. The “leadership” is a joke. Most of the children are bullied- by teachers and staff. The faculty create more drama than the students. Discipline is different depending on whose kid you are. There is no consistency with discipline or with classroom instruction. They run off the best teachers to keep their cliques in charge. Students suffer there daily. I would never put my child through that environment ever again. It is not a safe school.

I don’t agree with a lot of the way things are handled at this school but my parenting and molding her has taught her the right way to handle things. The fact that this school lets a lot of things go bothers me. At games dress code doesn’t matter, language doesn’t matter and bullying doesnt matter. When they ride busses to and from games they will have cursing music blasting to and from games. I don’t teach my children to curse bully or dress inappropriately if it wasn’t for that my kids would be awful due to the role models at this school

There have been a couple teachers that have been really great, according to my daughter, but I’ve mainly dealt with the administration. The vice principal is extremely unprofessional, rude, and a pain to deal with. I think the school would be a much more pleasant place for the students and parents if she wasn’t there. There has never been any homework, which is nice, but also a little bad because my daughter won’t be prepared for higher education where she’ll definitely have work outside of class. The school has also been pretty unresponsive with bullying. They commend students with house points, but they tend to only pick the popular kids for extra points. There are several other things I’m unhappy with about this school, but I guess this is enough to write about on this site. If there were another public option for grades 5-6, I would definitely send my daughter somewhere else. Good luck if your child has to attend this school!
