As I understand leadership, not everyone possess the skills to actually hold a leadership position such as a principal. When a lack of professionalism and concern for the student's saftey manifest in the actions or lack there of from the principal, the school experience will be more destructive as a whole. The accountability and responsibility needs to start from the top.

I would give the overall experience a failing grade. There is zero security. Anyone can walk into the school proper. There is not a double lock entry lobby where a visitor (parent, grandparent, et al) has to be signed in and allowed in through a locked door. The traffic situation for dropping off and picking up students is a huge cluster fiasco. The crossing guard is a joke. West has rightfully earned the reputation of being a fighting school. My child has told me of the fights that take place and they usually involve bully/victim. Amazingly, the bully generally gets off scot free, and the victim pays the price.

It was a mixed bag really really many of the difficulties were with the implementation of rules that don't make sense, such as the fore mentioned hood rule and the bathroom rule.
