Description
Craftsman style home, is small, but perfect for newlyweds, a starter home. It's very cozy, not the type of place to invite relatives to stay over much, so for us, that was a benefit.
Newly renovated: Roof, laminate wood style flooring throughout, total copper plumbing, new insulation, new HVAC- central air/heating, new porch with outdoor tile and railings, new tankless water heater, new interior barn doors, new front door, new 10x12 wooden shed with shingled roof. New bathroom cabinetry and sleek shower fixtures, sprinkler system upgrade, gazebo upgrade. New appliances: LG Washer/Dryer Tower, LG Stove, LG Microwave, LG LG View Cabinet Refrigerator w/botttom freezer drawer and craft ice maker.
Neighborhood Description:
The neighborhood is very, very quiet, which is wonderful after a very tiring hard day's work. The second week after we moved into our home, The City of Monrovia sent the "Welcome Wagon" to us to welcome us to the neighborhood. That struck my husband and I as peculiar, but a very cute and charming gesture to make us feel at home in this community. Two retirees pulls up in this old station wagon with a huge "Monrovia Welcome Wagon" banner on the side, and they told us about the city, the departments, organizations we can get involved in, and gave us gift certificates and coupons for the local businesses and restaurants. That was a first for us, but very nice.
The wonderful Monrovia Police Department patrols every hour after 9pm during the week, and every 30 minutes on Saturday evenings after 9pm, to ensure the neighborhood stays quiet. That is reassuring as the summer months arrive and people are more active. The City of Monrovia hosts a block party on Sherman for a "get to know" the neighbors which offers a mobile reading and kid recreation with games, prizes and food, the various community organizations have their own booths, including the Monrovia Police and Fire Departments, Parks and Recreation and Charitable organizations . During Christmas, Santa drives by with a a caravan of city volunteers, Fire Department trucks, Poluce Department with sirens, reindeer, lights and holiday music. We love it, it's fun.
