"It’s a nice community. I’m older with no kids and live on the river. Not sure about the schools. The town is an older mill town, with a dead down town, trying to make a come back. "
  • Kbemt2000
"It’s a quiet area within close proximity to stores and schools. Not much crime at all. The view of the hills is beautiful especially in the fall."
  • E.alibrandi4
"There are plenty of areas around that are dog friendly trails. People are friendly as well as their dogs"
  • Blum13
"Nice flat 2 mile walk around Emerald Lake is great for dogs of all sizes and ages. One beach on the lake specific to dog access, and the boat launch is another area that dog owners like to bring the pups. "
  • Jaye
"The school is not good. My friend's kids never have homework, and the teachers don't alert parents if the kids are doing poorly on tests."
  • CenterResident
"The Old Center is a near-perfectly preserved, quiet New England village. Safe, charming, and tranquil."
  • Davehannah
"Hillsnor has very safe streets and police are very friendly. Great public services and children's activities for families. "
  • jamesk03110
"Loved living in Hillsborough, my kids and wife made lots of friends and loved living near Grimmes Field."
  • EggCentric2
"I live in Hillsborough, have for most of my life. The downtown has some gems like Butler Park, which is where the weekly Farmers Market and Thursdays in the Park music series are held in the summers. There are some good restaurants (Stone Arch Tavern, Tooky Mills Pub, and Sampan Chinese Restaurant), too. Fox State Forest is another great feature of the town - many acres of forest with wonderful trails for hiking, mountain biking, and snowshoeing and x-country skiing in winter. There are several active churches and many civic organizations. You wouldn't believe how many artists there are in this area! We have the annual hot air Balloon Festival, the Art Tour, Schnitzelfest, Living History Event, as well as 2 musical coffee houses held monthly. The schools are all on the same campus, k thru 12, and there are ongoing efforts to improve testing scores. Lots of sporting activities and after school activities. There isn't much in the way of nightlife here, so young singles would probably find us boring. There is some (but not enough, at times) parking downtown, and no public transportation at all. "
