1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCHS is a great school. I have a totally different background and was worried about bullies but I have been received with love and kindness. Excellence is celebrated regardless of where you come from. Teachers interact with us like their own children. I am a 9th grader and can say I absolutely enjoy school. My teachers are already discussing college courses with me.Future Aeronautical Engineer,Oluwadamilare.Student Review9y ago6 Reviews - East Side High School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI just was awarded section 8. I was so excited. I wanted to move out of Newark. Then I received a letter from Malcolm Shabazz stating that my son was one of 6 students in Newark district schools that was awarded a scholarship to Lincoln Tech. All expenses paid. Malcolm Shabazz also informed us that not only will he be graduating next year with honors from there but also Lincoln Tech. They informed us upon graduating in would receive an additional scholarship for 85,000, to further his education. My son was and is so excited. So as for me moving out of Newark, not happening now. My son's dreams have to come first. Thank you Malcolm Shabazz for caring so much about my child and his future!Parent Review2y ago4 Reviews - Weequahic High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAlot of people say Dayton Street is a "bad" school. Some say its a "failing" school. Though they have one thing right, it is a failing school but its not such a bad school. The teachers really care about giving students a good education there. its just some students there need a little extra "push" and with that extra "push" i know Dayton Street School can turn those horrible steriotypes into wonderful compliments ! and , if you shall ask me how I know ? well because i was a former student there for 7-8 yrs. I go to TEAM Charter now but i still dont think there is another school out there that is as encouraging and determined with so much resilience and perseverance as Dayton Street School ! :)Other Review14y ago3 Reviews - Check out schools near 57 Eckert Ave.

"Maybe their dogs may get loose bite someone and get a lawsuit. Other than that I’m not a dog owner so i can’t speak for dog owners. Just assuming "

"Even though you see people walking their dogs, unfortunately they don’t clean up after them. Sad really. Also, not a friendly neighbourhood. Bunch of theft package wise. Always someone speeding. My car was hit twice by either a drunk driver or someone who stole a vehicle. Neighbours aren’t compassionate and loud but then wants to tell you to be quiet. "

"This is a terrible area. The streets and sidewalks are filthy. People don't clean up after their dogs. There are a lot of shootings, and when the police are called, they arrive 3 to 5 hours later. In addition, the neighbors play their music extremely loud with no consideration for others. The building is full of roaches and rats."
