3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was declassified upon entrance to Charles E Walters. He was receiving services in preschool and I fought with the district for him to continue an IEP with no avail. On top of this he was placed with a kindergarten teacher that was not meant to work with children with disabilities and he never should have been placed so poorly after receiving services. Both he and I struggled with this teacher all throughout his kindergarten year. I had him re evaluated and scheduled a CSE hearing in which this particular teacher couldn't bother to show up. We were denied classification and despite arguing that he needed more attention and help aside from the extra reading and math push ins I received nothing. Fast forward my son is reclassified as he should be through a different district given the services he needs and diagnosed with ADHD. The district needs to listen more to the concerns and needs of children that are not on the spectrum but clearly need help. After declassification he declined drastically falling further and further behind and due to this lost time he struggles academically. Granted covid didn't help and a move to a new district was disruptive but he lost a full year and a half of early intervention that I feel was crucial in his development. This I feel was due to the district denying needed services and the lack of support from his teacher in his kindergarten year. On the other end the community is strong and if your child is not in need of special ed it may be a good fit.Parent Review2y ago - Longwood High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a great school I'm currently in 8th grade and i'm friends with all the Teachers and the Principal and they teach good History,Math,English,Science,etc and all the teachers are nice and always there to help out if the students are having trobule with work and such.I recommend doing some clubs before and after school but my personal favorite is doing Chrous.Thank you for reding my review and hope you guys try the school out too.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 560 Granny Road.

"its clean and safe, neighborly people, hosts events for our community, hayrides around the neighborhood in October, santa comes with candy canes and hit chocolate and takes people on rides in December, the Easter bunny comes to the clubhouse for easter and theres always an egg hunt for all of the kids. it's a fun place for families with or without children."

"Including the historic district, the hamlet is a rural exurb of New York City roughly equidistant from the city and Montauk Point and also between Long Island Sound on the north, and the Atlantic ocean on the south. Located in its boundaries are Suffolk County Offices including Police HQ, D.P.W. HQ, Board of Elections and others. In the last few years, many new homes have been built, mostly larger houses on over-sized properties. Main street runs parallel to the Carmans River, which was declared by NY State as a "wild and scenic river" , and is open to boaters at a public access ramp on the lower lake that is state maintained. Close to the Long Island Expressway, I495, shopping is available within a 5-18 mile radius including Tanger outlets in Riverhead, Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, and many stores in nearby Medford, Shirley, and Patchogue. Although property taxes are high, like most of Long Island, school districts are very well rated, and town services are mostly very good. Limited night life might make it less desirable for singles, but the Hamptons are about a 30 minute drive southeast. Some rentals are available, but most homes and townhouses are privately owned."
