"There are lots of community events held downtown. Largest one being Rockland Day in June. Main Street is shut down and the whole town comes out to support."
  • Elaine
"Great school system. New Elementary school just built. Great town. Easy walking paths all over town. Railway trails all open for walking."
  • Leanne
"Pretty and historical. Nice neighborhoods. A lot of places for pizza! Roads and sidewalks are decent. Also a beautiful walking/biking trail that goes throughout the entire town into neighboring towns"
  • Rudy S.
"Is good people and u don’t see anything like drunk the cars don’t drive crazy like Brockton and the school"
  • Rudy S.

"It’s a very safe neighborhood to live... I’m living here for 14 years and I have a 5 years old son... he is on a local public day care and he loves it..."
  • C.M.F. .
"There is walking trail near by! Perfect for morning or evening walks with a dog! Especially during the less humid times of spring and fall. "
  • Cher
"Friendly neighborhood. Close to 3A, medical clinics and shopping. Location is perfect for getting to where you need to go."
  • Elizabeth
"It’s common to see people walking their dogs along the sidewalks. There are nearby trails/parks to explore as well. "
  • Katelyn n.
"Rockland always has some type of fun family event going on wether it’s at the library, town hall, or down at the fields. The holiday stroll is definitely one of Rockland’s greatest all time favorite events!"
  • Danielleponeill
"nothing really, it's kind of a busy street but I like the neighborhood. people are nice, helpful and friendly!"
  • Tootsdonovan
"I've lived in Rockland over 11 years. It's a great little town filled with dedicaed and responsible citizens. It has been a privilege to serve on 2 boards, dedicated to the historical and cultural preservation and endeavors. Rockland is just 18 miles south of Boston and provides an easy commute. The T is less than 3 miles away. A great safe community with newly constructed schools. They're building a new senior center now. Rockland is a community on the rise. Recently mentioned in the Globe as one of the best places to buy real estate. A small town with a big heart. It's hometown USA, Friday Night Lights and popular arts scene. You can have it all here. "
  • Tootsdonovan
"Rockland seems to get a lot of bad press and hardly any good. It's a great town filled with hardworking people who care about their community. It's a small town with a big heart. Close to Boston and near the commuter rails. Families are involved in sports, recreation and nearly everyone who owns their homes are maintaining and improving them. There is a large rental population which has impacted some neighborhoods. Absentee landlords should do a better job of screening their tenants; and other should do a better job of providing for their tenants. The downtown area is a little sparse but more restaurants have opened up. There's a lot of good value here and many gorgeous older homes (like Victorians) where you get some great real estate value for your money. Beaches are just a 15 minute drive away. A great little community that shouldn't get overlooked. Don't believe the hype. The sidewalks roll up at 7:00 pm and it's quite here. This is a very family-focused community."

"That is incredible. Do your research about Rockland before overpaying to live in one of Maplewood's sloppily-built homes on a tiny, crammed lot with not one tree on any front yards. You will find Rockland's schools are ranked by the state near the bottom, the downtown is mostly empty storefronts, the roads are in horrible shape, thanks to a highway department that doesn't really work and a higher crime rate than the towns around it. Is this where you really want to raise kids? Even if you don't have kids - quality of school do effect the value of your home. For that money, go to Hingham or Norwell - both have wonderful homes in that price range in communities that offer a whole lot more than Rockland. "
  • masscomco
"If you don't know Rockland, do yourself a favor and ride around town. You will find a pretty dead downtown. Most of Rockland's roads are in horrid shape, thanks to a highway department that doesn't do anything. Check the state's school rankings - Rockland is near the bottom. Even if you don't have kids, that low ranking keeps many people from moving here. And Maplewood is a sloppily built, crammed project being build on landfill from when the Southeast Expressway was originally built. And part of that land used to be an illegal dump when that land was owned by a town employee."
