  • Keala Wallwork
"My neighborhood has a decent time frame to town in the mornings and after work, the Bus is a great alternative as well as using the bike path to move around Kailua."
  • Alaska2aloha
"The weather and the rain are the best part of living on the windward side. The winters bring cool 60 degree nights and constant winds. "
  • Meggstaley80
"Very welcoming for animals great place honestly nothing about it is bad it’s the perfect place for animal loves. "
  • Christopher and Chad
"Every evening about 40 dogs and their owners come to Kaha Park where the dogs run free and people socialize. It’s pretty magical. "
  • Trulia User
"There are cats to chase and ample grass to pee on. Many friendly dogs and their owners. There are some aggressive dogs but not many. Also, many kids are dog friendly. "
  • Trulia User

  • Trulia User
"lots of people have dogs off leash. I don't recommend living here there's too much traffic and people are rude. "
  • Alysa R.
"my neighborhood has great access to public transportation and bus stops. It is friendly and family-oriented."
  • Bnsrussell
"Kailua is a highly sought after area with great dining, shopping, beautiful beaches, and much more. "
  • Lihau P.
"Kailua is a beautiful small town that replicates the spirit of Hawai’i in a community. My grandfather lived and built a small house in Kailua where he raised my mother and her siblings. My mother took over the house where I currently reside. I’ve always loved and lived in Kailua. It’s deep Hawaiian history and ever growing community is beautiful. "
  • Jason.a.eggers
"Good people and beautiful atmosphere, pricey neighborhoods lead to great views and tons of amenities in a coastal community. Schools are best in terms of comparison to other parts of the island, and definitely beneficial to parents with kids requiring a proper and well facilitated education. Streets are clean and safe, traffic is low and quiet, and a decent amount of dining options for special nights out. Transit time to neighboring areas is reasonable depending on departure times. Highly recommended if beaches and outdoor life is a value, as it’s home to two of the top beaches in the world. Outdoor enthusiast will enjoy quick access to great water sports and scenic hikes that surpass expectations. "
  • K.v.k
"Kailua is very pedestrian friendly, close to the beach and has a lot of cute little shops scattered around town. "
  • Justine
"Beautiful little town. Very close to some of the best beaches in the world. Lots of outdoor activities to do as well."
  • Mary L. M.
"I am retired. I don't commute. When I did, it was a 15 min walk to bus stop. Half hr drive. And another 15 min walk to work. If I drove, I left 45 minutes before work started."
  • Mary L. M.
"Theres tons of digs w their owners playing, walking or snoozing at the beach. Everyone loves their dogs, and each other's dogs. Some go off leash, and go for a swim!!!"
  • Dwaine M.
"It seems everyone here owns a dog. Park and beach nearby. Little to no aggressive breeds. A dog park is being built here and is much needed for quite some time now. "
  • Becky B.
"Everyone is very friendly. Not sure about schools. I have an infant. I do love this neighborhood and community. "
  • Faleluavai
"My commute from my neighborhood is awesome compared to other places on the island. I can get onto the H3 which can take me to the west side of the island or I can easily get to the Pali to get to downtown Honolulu. Access to the Likelike through kaneohe which is the next neighboring town to us is easy and can be a great alternate if there’s traffic on either the H3 or the Pali. We can also take a scenic route through Waimanalo to go through Hawai’i Kai to get into town if we wanted to take that option. We have many great options."
  • Faleluavai
"We have multiple events throughout the year. The “I Love Kailua”, really rallies up the whole Kailua community, using entertainment, food, games, etc. Families line up the side of the street for the Holiday Parades. Multiple times in the week we have farmers Markets but Thursday’s farmers market really bring the family together. Our 4th of July fireworks is the perfect way for the entire Kailua to be out enjoying the beautiful sky lights as it is lit up from the art display of the fireworks."
  • Faleluavai
"I’ve lived in Kailua for 14 years and love everything about it. From the small mixture of old and newer town with new development, everything is in close proximity. Majority of the people here are very friendly and just have a lot of aloha. There are lots of community events and things that gets the whole kailua involved. I love this place I call home, Kailua."
  • Bernard C.
"Close to elementary and intermediate schools. Shopping plaza nearby. Two miles from Kailua town center. "
  • Jeffrey A. K.
"Great neighborhood! Love living here. It has got everything one needs to really enjoy life..........."
  • Sara

  • Kailuagirl808
"I’ve lived here born & raised in Hawaii. My Gr. Parents left kakaako and moved into my families Kailua home my uncle built for $1400 in 1939!! Kailua is an athletic, fun and friendly town to live in. You do have to deal with the increased volume of tourists though. "
  • Nevskylaw
"Access to the best beach, boating and snorkeling, as well as a great hiking; it is beautiful, clean and full of flowers."
  • Bethann P.
"Pet friendly rentals are expensive and many have restrictions on type/size of dog. Rentals are huge here, especially short term. Drives up rice for locals. What a shame. "
