Charlestown is a small but friendly town (year-round population of just over 7,000 with a large added summer population) that includes the very wealthy in the large beachfront homes as well as low-income members of the Narragansett Indians (whose reservation is just a couple of miles away). The average family is upper-middle. Charlestown has a lively civic life with flamboyant politics, lots of civic groups, numerous public events (such as the annual Seafood Festival, the Narragansetts' Powwow, Rhythm & Roots, etc.), good restaurants both in town and in nearby Westerly as well as in Wakefield (12 miles away). Commuting times to Providence, Newport or New London are each around 45-50 minutes.

Excellent swimming, wave surfing, sunbathing, fishing, kayaking on site and hiking close by."
