As a parent of a 7-year-old attending Fairmeadow, I can't express enough how delighted I am with the quality of education and care provided here. From the moment we stepped into the welcoming atmosphere of the school (sometimes the Principal would be standing in front of the entrance greeting the student and parent(s)), it was evident that this was a place where children thrive. The dedication of the teachers is truly remarkable, as they not only impart knowledge but also foster a genuine love for learning in every child. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to be engaging and age-appropriate, allowing my child to explore various subjects while developing critical thinking skills. Moreover, the emphasis on character development and social-emotional learning ensures that students not only excel academically but also grow into compassionate and empathetic individuals.Beyond academics, the school offers plenty of extracurricular activities, school events, and opportunities for students to discover their passions and talents. Whether it's participating in sports, or engaging in creative arts, there's something for every child to explore and enjoy. The sense of community within the school is palpable, with parents, teachers, and staff working together to create a supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. I couldn't be more grateful for the positive impact this school has had on my child's development and am confident that it's building a solid foundation for my daughter's success. We definitely will enroll our 2 year-old to attend pre-K.

As an asian parent of 2 Gunn graduates, I have mixed feelings about this Highschool. I think all the kids due to family background try very hard to achieve success academically. In that sense, I think the scores you see are more of reflection on the parent/peer pressure rather than anything magical teaching done by the school. During my interactions with the teachers, like other schools, there are some good teachers, but some bad ones as well. I would only recommend this school if your kids have an easy time learning and want to be challenged academically. For typical kids, they will feel like they are going as hard as they can just to be 'average' - which is not a great feeling for 4 years of hard work.

I can't say enough how embarrassed PAUSD should be to have a school like this in their district. There is just no reason for the high level of incompetence in the administration, and apathy in the teaching staff.I recently sent an email to a group of Admin staff and heard nothing for a week, so I went in person to remind them to answer my email (because I have learned from experience that reminders by email go unanswered)...it took them a week to answer my email AFTER I talked to them IN PERSON asking them to respond to the email.The email BTW was asking them why they haven't started a system for my child that was supposed to start a month prior.I think my child would've been better off if I just dropped her off at the library every morning and let her read whatever she wants.and let me remind you that no one at all in this scenario is lacking in any resources to help. I have offered the school to send tutors, to pay for things, to apply for grants. I came to Palo Alto because I wanted my children to get a valuable public school education, but from my experience at JLS I'm now putting my other children in private school and planning to sue the district to have this covered (which is something many people do, and is probably your best option if you're reading this and thinking of how to best help your children succeed.)
