The school and principal is much better now since they have implanted a new principal in the last couple years! The teachers and staff are really friendly! Best elementary in the Klamath Basin

I'm a student and I have mixed feelings about this school. Most kids are white which calls for a lot of racial slurs and teasing towards kids that aren't. Some teachers are great and some don't care about the kids at all and you can tell. Kids also say you need to be one of the counselors "favorites" to get your schedule changed which is totally unfair. I have never been teased at any school until I came to Henley.

We are completing our 4th year at Mazama. The primary focus here is sports and achieving a high graduation rate. The school offers minimal honors classes and I don’t believe there are any AP classes. Review the schools STEM&M and Honors programs to see what is required to graduate in these programs. Classes do require a minimum number of students, therefore not all classes in the course catalog are always offered. Students can take classes at KCC and OIT, if their schedule allows. Laptops are only issued to students in the STEM&M program, the rest of the students do not get laptops. I believe that every student should have access to a laptop during school and after school hours to study and work on homework. Our student rarely had homework, because the school tries to find time during the school day to get homework complete. Although this may alleviate the need for everyone to have laptops, the students don’t learn time management. Students don't know how to study for tests, manage time, read assignments or prepare for class. The robotics program is one of the highlights, but does have a large time commitment. The band and choir programs are rebuilding and starting to gain strength. The marching band is more of a pep band that plays in the stands at home games and marches in a couple of parades (no one does half time shows here). Klamath Falls really needs to consolidate some of the high schools. This would allow them to offer more class options to accommodate all students. Mazama is able to offer the basic classes to the majority of students. The students who fall behind and those who need more advanced classes do not have any options. Teachers and administration do care about the students. The facility is older (1960’s), but they have tried to brighten up the brick interior. If you are relocating to the area, try to talk to current students and parents to see how this school will fit your student. There are 3 public high schools in the Klamath Falls immediate community.
