5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageArbutus middle is trash, I’m pulling my kids out and we’re gonna literally have to move because everyday a child in this school is physically injured. Whether it’s mine or yours, these people who are so post to be protecting our children, have completely failed us. This school is below trash.Parent Review6mo ago - Halethorpe Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe administrator went out of her way to ensure my very apprehensive kindergarten child was able to be escorted to class each day at the beginning of the school year. The team of teachers made sure to keep me abreast of his day and social interactions.Parent Review1y ago - Lansdowne High & Academy Of Finance

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's a shame. There are many good things going on with Lansdowne HS. I had two kids graduate from here. They enjoyed many of the extracurricular opportunities - being in the excellent choir, appearing in the fabulous plays the school puts on every year, and participating in a program run with the Hippodrome theater. They had some very good, dedicated teachers. Both of my kids adored the televideo class, and all the projects they got to do. They were in GT classes, took some AP classes, and did dual enrollment with CCBC while still in school. On a down note, the atmosphere at the school can be a problem. There are fights, drop-outs, and a seedy neighborhood outside. The physical building is a disgrace, and Baltimore county school board should be raked over coals for allowing it to fall into such disrepair. It has no air conditioning, and as the summers get hotter and longer, this becomes a dangerous situation. It is two stories, but has no elevator for disabled students. They found asbestos in supply closets. The water fountains break and run rusty. The auditorium literally floods a bit when it rains, and mice run around the floor during performances. I believe the last major renovation to the building was done in 1973. So no, sadly, I would not recommend this school to anyone.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 5207 Arbutus Ave.

"The churches do a lot to help the community, Lansdowne elementary just built an amazing new school, in my opinion it's the finest one around. There is a heavy police presence so crime has really gone down quite rapidly."

"I've lived here most of my life, about 20 years. It was a nice community when I was younger, with friendly neighbors and really good schools. There are still great lights around Christmas but not as much of a sense of community anymore and not the safest area."

"Good neighbors, lots of kids, but zoned schools are mediocre and have shown no signs of academic improvement for years."
- Jenna N.
- Resident

"There’s a lot of trash on the ground and broken glass in the roads. There are some rather disrespectful teenagers in the community that litter constantly. The streets are not lit at all, so night time dog walks are a little sketchy. Also, no one picks up after their pets, so if a dog in the neighborhood has a parasite or parvo, your dog is highly exposed."
- geekygirly

"Some schools are better than others. Make sure if education is important to to you to visit the schools your child is zoned for. "

"A fair comes to the shock lot around the corner. At Christmas Santa ride around the community on the fire truck."
- Jenna N.

"My car gets broken into about once a month. I live on a well lit street directly across from relay elementary school. I have to put shoes on my dog because the neighborhood streets and sidewalks are consistently coated in broken glass bottles. "
