School 2 initially has a "bad rap" for being a school with a higher population of special needs children. This is because our prek programs that include early intervention for prek3 and prek4 are housed at School 2. I've been with School 2 since my first child (who has been here since age 4 with an IEP since he was 2.5 years old. I saw my child come from being mostly non-verbal in kindergarten into a child who has since them graduated and over-achieves in exams and is able to express himself socially at the IS. I give alot of credit to his teachers who always communicated with me and guided me to how we can also help him at him. Two of my other children currently go to this school. They love going to school and they love their teachers. School Administration from the Principal, the Guidance Counselor, the Nurse, to the Custodians, have been thoroughly engaged. What I love most is that the after school clubs are mostly run by the teachers through PTA initiatives. I believe over the years there has been a growing sense of community and participation between the families, the admin, and teachers into making School 2 a truly special place for our kids. If you feel apprehensive about coming here...just give it a shot!
