Description

Welcome to one of the most charming homes in Vallejo. Originally built in 1890 as a convent for St. Basil's Church, it was moved to this location in the 1940's. Nestled among mature trees and gardens on all sides, this sweet home has been well cared for and updated over the years, making it a peaceful and comfortable home. It has beautiful hardwood and tile floors, it has a separate dining room and living room, both with huge picture windows overlooking the front gardens and old oak trees that provide abundant shade. There is a spacious kitchen with a new refrigerator and dishwasher (replaced within the last year), in-unit washer/dryer, and overlooks the neighboring property's garden filled with fruit trees. There are two bedrooms (each with ample closet space), a hallway pantry, full bath, and windows throughout offering lots of natural light. A covered back deck is off the second bedroom, leading into a lush back garden for indoor/outdoor living. Vallejo has a pretty perfect climate warmer than the East Bay, but cooler than inland. There are two raised beds available for growing food year-round, and a chicken coop available with the sweetest chicken who lays daily eggs, for a tenant who dreams of having an urban farm (both chicken care-taking and gardening is available, but not required to live here! :)

This is a private, quiet, and very peaceful living space. Because of the many trees surrounding the property, the house stays cool through the summer months. The house can be rented partially furnished, if desired. Small pets are allowed at the owner's discretion.

The house shares the property with an upstairs in-law apartment with wonderful tenants, and a backyard garden cottage which will be maintained by the owners (but not as our main residence). Each unit has a separate and private entrance, with abundant privacy between the living spaces.

This has been our (the owners') family home for the past five years, and we are looking for responsible renters who are generally quiet, respectful, and appreciate friendly interactions on the property, and the strong community of neighbors on our block and neighborhood. If interested, please respond with a little about yourself, and what you are looking for in a home/rental. We look forward to meeting you!

"The park across the street is beautiful and is a nice place to walk your dog during the day…..but just during the day."
  • Vallejo Joe
"Our park is so lovely during the day… Terrifying at night, mostly due to the screaming, but usually the nighty sideshows drowns it out."

"Actually not bad if you leverage public transportation. Traffic across the bridge towards the East Bay is generally not horrible. Telecommute and you have it made!"
  • francesharkins
"it has historic homes, beautiful water and city views, great public transportation including ferry service to San Francisco, many restaurants, brew pubs, wine tasting, a thriving art community, is near to Mare Island and nature walks, and has a very socially diverse population. "
  • Jramirezconchas
"I’m currently in the market of seeking a new place to call home The neighborhood I’m in is unique in a sense of old houses and the residents are all professionals career minded but there’s safety issues I’m very concerned there’s a lot of traffic of bad opportunist looking to make people lives like me feel uncomfortable that’s why I made my decision to seek a place where I feel safe would be a nice neighborhood if it gets cleaned up"
