"Nice neighborhood. Walkable, close but not too close to downtown. Streets are mostly not thoroughfares so car traffic is mostly limited to people coming and going from their own houses. Extremely safe / almost no crime. "

"I've lived in the Baywood neighborhood of San Mateo for 10 years. From here you can walk in one direction and choose from a plethora of fabulous restaurants, see a movie, browse quirky gift or grocery shops or indulge in a mani-pedi. A few steps in the other direction, and you will be strolling the pretty tree-lined hilly streets of Hillsborough. "
  • Jyotsna P.
"I used to live in this area for 3 years and I think that this is one of the nicest areas of San Mateo. It has easy access to the Downtown, the Caltrain station and is a very safe area for families with kids."
  • Christine g.

  • Christine g.
"Wonderful close to downtown, the library etc"
