"There are lots of stray dogs. It’s upsetting but people dump dogs they don’t want in neighborhoods. We got our 4th dog that was. She’s incredibly sweet and we don’t understand why someone would abandon her. "
  • Tommyjohn2918
"Great schools a small town feel with many different food and grocery options. Everyone is friendly and looks after everyone. Beautiful scenery "
  • Roxie
"I live on the lake. Every thing is 10 min. Except my favorite restaurant on the lake. 3 min. Traffic is always light. It is the country life. No major interstates coming through."
  • Dustinanddanae O.
"Great school options from public, to private, to homeschooling. All local schools accept transfers and most don’t charge. "
  • Mayra V.
"you will often see people walking with their families and/ dogs. no one messes with anyone. it is a great emvironment to raise children and grow old. "
  • Pandayr52
"Dogs are well managed by their owners. Dogs are kept in fenced yards or on leashes. Some people take walks with their dogs "

"This is a great town and everything , grew up here and love this place but it’s simple . Find a house in the country ! Have a nice day y’all "
  • Lisacollins8969
"There are many families in my neighborhood, but not many young children. Many of us are grandparents, so we see kids around here often. "
  • Holly S.
"Good churches good schools nice neighborhoods terrible city council right now. Great development board"
  • Victor M.

"It’s a up and coming rural town in east Texas. Dallas will eventually find it and with remote works space it will be popular "
  • Shelbyanne725
"It’s a blend of unique people. There’s a lot diversity in Athens, Texas. There’s beautiful country acreage that’s not too far from town. "
  • Collinthrap123
"I have lived in Athens for six years and it’s a nice community. Full of friendly people but can have some sketchy people as well, but that’s every city. Has a few good restaurants with good food and nice servers"
  • Laurie e.
"Quite a bit of road noise. Road is a main road through to other side of town without hitting any traffic lights. Main highway at end of block too. "
  • Laurie e.
"We just moved into this neighborhood. My neighbors on both sides have been great. There’s some traffic but the people are quiet. "
  • alloy489
    "Calm peaceful & quiet neighborhood"
  • kathie_dooley
"Athens is a great community, very little crime, low traffic, small town, good churches. This neighborhood is quiet, good neighbors."
  • shaunte75
"I live on one of these streets and it is quiet in my area.I have never heard of any gangs in Athens,Texas."
  • davidpowell123
"I own property in Athens near Howdy Acres (a current listing) and find the area peaceful, safe, easily accessible and the neighbors trustworthy and helpful. I am close enough to the Dallas area to access the museums, entertainment and opportunities; but far enough out in the country that I can see a star filled sky at night. With the Metroplex adding approx. a million people every ten years it will not be long before the amenities of Dallas will move closer to Athens and with that will come business growth in the Athens area. I see great potential for Athens and look forward to retiring here."
