My experience is that Friendship Central School is full of many people who are working hard and creatively to make the most out of our limited resources and size to provide a sufficient education for our students. We strive to shape our students into engaged learners and teach respect, though it is indeed a challenge and I believe we are not alone in figuring out how to reach the next generation whose learning was hindered by the Covid situation and whose social expectations are not as high or respectful as they were in previous eras. Student apathy is an issue for some, but I do not believe it stems from a lack of effort on our part to engage. Our community overall suffers from poverty and has just a handful of local employment opportunities, though what is available is decent. The school is grateful for the parents and families that do want to partner with us and help not only their kids but the whole community thrive and I am hopeful we can reinvigorate or at least sustain a solid school despite the challenges before us as a district in a small, but fairly safe and cozy town. I also believe that the variety of teachers and administration we have work hard to try and improve the functioning of our school for the sake of being the best we can for our students. No school is perfect and we recognize the need for our continual improvement, but I do believe this is a great school to work at and the opportunity to positively impact kids who need both teaching and training for life skills is viewed with importance here.
