3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot believe the level of communication this school has with parents when it really matters. I understand this high school and we’re teaching our children to be more independent but an incoming freshman coming into this school is lost and they’re very slow about getting lockers, gym lockers, delivering vital information like early outs every Monday, syllabus for every class so the students know what is expected. Not all kids remember information verbally. Some need documentation to refer back to. And if your child is a freshman trying out for sports no information is relayed to the parents about tryouts, transportation home, requirements for practice, nothing. I’m not sure if it’s the leadership or the area the school is used to interacting with but communication is VERY LIMITED here. They focus so much on bilingual communication for forms and school spirit instead of communication. This is so opposite of the schools in the northwest side of town and very disappointing. If you move to this side of town on purpose be prepared to do a lot of calling and bugging to get the information you need from them. School barely started and I have called this school more than I ever did since my child started school in kindergarten!Parent Review9mo ago - Shirley Lane Elementary School
