Beautifully restored Union Station also has a large food court, several restaurants, shops, and Starbucks. Wine aficionado? Schneider s of Capitol Hill, one of DC s best wine stores, is also located one block from the apartment. Finish your meal with a leisurely stroll through the history-soaked neighborhoods that author and socialite M.E. Sherwood once described as capturing a mingled simplicity and grandeur.
TRANSPORTATION:
You won't need a car! Nearby Union Station is a transportation hub for the mid-Atlantic region. The station contains two train lines (AMTRAK and local MARC trains). Union Station is also home to Washington s subway Metro Red Line; Metro and Circulator buses; tour operators; and rental cars and bikes. And in addition to plentiful Metrobus stops all along Capital Hill streets, Capital Bikeshare makes bike rental a breeze. Or if you do want to drive (for an hour-long outing, or a longer trip outside the city to Monticello or Gettysburg), consider registering online for Car2Go or Zipcar--flexible alternatives to traditional rental cars.
