Description

A truly special home that seamlessly blends the charm of its century-old origins with modern-day comfort and design. Tucked away on a quiet dead-end road, it offers sweeping Hudson River views from nearly every room, inviting you to experience the river’s beauty through all four seasons.

Just steps from the water’s edge, this historic treasure provides a front-row seat to breathtaking sunrises from the primary suite or private second-floor balcony. This home lives like a three-bedroom thanks to its spacious and versatile third-floor bonus room—ideal as a guest room, office, or cozy lounge. Watch boats drift by, collegiate crews from Marist and Vassar glide past, and summer fireworks illuminate the Poughkeepsie riverfront.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Bob Shepard Park and a public boat launch are less than a quarter mile away. Inside, a thoughtful 2019 restoration transformed the home into a bright, open-concept retreat equipped with smart home technology and energy-efficient systems, including solar, for lower utility costs and sustainable living. Recent upgrades include new windows and doors, spray foam insulation, a new roof, plumbing, and electrical, all brought to modern standards. The built-in audio system enhances everyday living. As evening falls, enjoy views of the twinkling Mid-Hudson Bridge and the Walkway Over the Hudson right from your window.

Ideally located just 12 minutes from the Poughkeepsie Metro-North station and 13 minutes from the New Paltz Thruway exit, this home offers both tranquility and convenience.

This is a rare opportunity to own a beautifully restored piece of Hudson Valley history where every day feels like a getaway.

"Great safe area my kids love it here. I love that I can play outside with them and not feel unsafe. "
  • Corlitams
"We either work from home, or we drive. One commute is 10-15 minutes from our neighborhood. The other is 30 minutes. "
  • Denise Burchell
"My neighborhood is 10 minutes from the train station and 10-15 for shopping and hospitals. Schools are good and not too large"
  • Alice W.
"it is a beautiful neighborhood it is quiet and peaceful and a great place to raise children and the school district is excellent"
  • Hannahrlyon
"It’s ok if you have a good amount of land, but the roads are dangerous to walk on because they are windy and hilly and there are no sidewalks. "
  • Josephine.ingoglia
"Most people keep their dogs on their own property. There really aren’t many people walking dogs ......."
  • Destiny.turner4
"The block parties we have every year! Also the community always comes together for holidays and do something fun for the kids. Halloween is special in highland because everyone is ready for the trick or treaters and it’s tradition every year "
  • Hannahrlyon
"Wonderful neighborhood. Safe, scenic, quiet, respectful neighbors. 10 minutes from 87. Close to police station."
  • Austin
"I see dogs being walked very often. we live outside town and it's a dog paradise. highly recommend."
  • S. M. .
"We have holiday events in the town/hamlet that are enjoyed by children and adults. Not a lot of crime. "
  • Amber T.
"Everyone’s incredibly nice and it’s easy to get around. Not a lot of crime and the rail trail is beautiful to walk on. "
  • Susan
"No decent groomers. N the one that is local is extremely rude. Dog came back in almost same shape as I gave it to her and was rude and over priced and took too long."
  • 8 year resident
"Not quite a unique neighborhood. Some people are quite friendly but sometimes that depends on where you see them and who there with. People don’t wave when they drive passed your house even if they live a few houses down the road. Hard enough to drive down the road let alone walk with your kids. The sense of community is depleting yearly. "
  • Truffle1207
"We have many community events. We do a block party annually. Some neighbors organize Christmas caroling. Another does a Halloween Party every year, etc."
  • Cheyinza
"It’s a small quiet town. But with amazing locations nearby. Mountains nearby for fun hikes and more, college town next door if you want to eat at various types of restaurants, then on the other side you can go over the bridge to the suburbs with a mall."
  • Matt S. Y.
"It's a good school district and has a lot of outdoor activities. The town hold multiple family friendly event for all seasons. "
  • Marcos P.
"Great town , close to everything and just far enough too. Great food and restaurants nearby. Walkway Over The Hudson is here with great picturesque views up and down the Hudson River. "
  • jrburger70
"We moved to Highland as we needed a centralized location for our service business. We are less than 15 minutes to major highways, we can hop on a train to NYC in 10 minutes as well as 2 major hospitals. Major shopping is accessible both in Kingston (20 minutes North) or in Poughkeepsie (10 minutes). Thruway takes you to Paramus and Woodbury in 1 hr. If you are into Hiking and more natural items, New Paltz has tons of activities as well as Northern Ulster. HOWEVER, best of all is now the Walkway, Rail Trail which goes to Hopewell, and Franny Reese park for great walking and hiking along river. History buffs have West Point and all the mansions from the rich of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Nightlife around Highland is very diverse as Poughkeepsie and New Paltz are 10 minutes each way. The beauty of Highand, which is what we love most, is it is a small family oriented town. We can go to Poughkeepsie and wherever, but at the end of the day, we get home to a quiet home to relax. The schools are wonderful, the teachers are hands on, and the community activities for families are never ending. As a local business owner, I can also say businesses are revitalizing, and you will find more Mom & Pop businesses than chain stores in our town (it's nice to walk into a deli and they know you by name!). Hope this helps - A very happy Highland resident. Moving close to the Hamlet offers you quite a bit! However, the mix of homes and residential neighborhoods caters to almost every desire. Best of all, in the fall, drive through the town and you smell the Apples! What more can you ask for! "
  • ted c.
"Great community, great schools. In beautiful Hudson Valley"
  • Elizabeth J.
"Tucked into a Great Neighborhood, this home offers Privacy and QUIET. Step out the door and you hear nothing but the birds singing. The backyard is completely private. The perennial gardens start with daffodils in the spring and just keep on blooming throughout the year. Located near the end of a dead end road there is little traffic. 6 miles to NYS Thruway in New Paltz, 8 miles to Metro North Train Station and 30 minutes to Stewart International Airport. "
