7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a current student at Bancroft, it’s sweet here! The teachers are very kind (well, if you’re nice to them and don’t talk back) and as long as you turn in assignments on time and get a passing grade, teachers will care about you. Something I do find a problem is that children are afraid to speak up if they need help, and I’m very appreciative that math teachers are always insistent on kids speaking up so they can do examples on problems. ELA on the other hand has a very simple curriculum, but, I don’t feel like I’m learning anything. Students is the real problem. Kids here have NO FILTER. If someone is sensitive or falls for trolls and stuff, class time and ESPECIALLY lunch is a terrible place to be. First hand experience, kids are racist, etc. bullying is a common problem because kids are afraid to speak up. Fights are surprisingly not that common at this school? So that’s a plus..? We have clubs for all, and as a person who’s met the teacher who teaches kids with disabilities, she’s very good with children and very kind. Student council allows kids to make decisions for the school from the perspective of a student, and the staff is kind depending on the situation, Overall good school, communication could be better.Student Review7mo ago19 Reviews - Gompers Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has a great culture that is well defined by the principal and administrative staff. I like their approach to learning. The teachers are engaging and I feel there is a team effort to improve the education of my child.I appreciate how the school deploys CGI math which has made a really big difference in my child's ability to walk through complex math problems and resolve with confidence.I would highly recommend this school for inclusion, education and quality of staff.Parent Review2mo ago27 Reviews - Lakewood High School

"There are many apartments and ADUS being build. The city may be changing more in the next 5 years. Parking will become a problem soon. "

"Quiet, safe, everything you need within a 2 mile radius. It’s boring and cookie cutter so it’s great for families, maybe too dull otherwise. "

"Lakewood is great for dog owners—no HOA restrictions, wide sidewalks, and a dog park on Centralia. If there’s a downside, it might be occasional street traffic during peak hours or a few areas lacking waste bins — but overall, it’s a solid place to have a pup. "

"We still have first home owners and/or their relatives living in the neighborhood. Lakewood is close to everything, malls, beach, hills, and more importantly does not get too hot in the summer due to closeness to Long Beach."

"Well, to be honest, I live in an area that may not be the greatest but overall it’s pretty good. I wish the police would patrol the area a little more often but I know they’re stretched pretty thin thanks to all those defund the police people. I’ve lived here over 12 years seen all kinds of different things going on. I would move if I could afford it but otherwise we’re OK."

"I love Lakewood! I never want to leave! It’s such a quiet, family-friendly, community-oriented city. Lakewood offers so many different activities, perks for residents, & events throughout the year, & for any age. In addition to safety, the city takes pride in cleanliness. Our parks & our public areas, are always well-kept. I also love it here because those of us that have been here for years know that neighbors still talk to one another here, & are very friendly! <3 Lakewood! "

"There’s a dog park and many other dog friendly places nearby. Dog owners are often seen walking their pets down the street and at local restaurants. The down side is there are streets with heavy traffic and some speeding that may cause alarm to some animals."

"I live in East Lakewood, which is very neglected by Lakewood. It is very different from the rest of Lakewood but the homes still try to sell for the same price. So most people pay Lakewood prices for a Hawaiian Gardens type neighborhood. "

"Nothing that i know of is in this neighborhood. I'm on the outskirts of Lakewood close to Hawaiian gardens and it is not a safe part of Lakewood. i believe the best parts of Lakewood are areas near the mall. The Lakewood sheriff's have a bad reputation of not showing up on time when called. I'm near Rynerson park del amo and studebaker the cars like to do donuts and race down studebaker near centralia. My neighbors are constantly calling the police and they always show up when the car racers are gone. "
