I have been providing temporary accommodations for traveling healthcare professionals for the last 4 years and have learned and implemented most if not all the things a Traveler needs to make this time away from home comfortable, convenient and functional. With most of our Travelers working long 12-hour overnight shifts in stressful jobs it quickly became apparent the needs of Travelers are very different than those traveling for a short vacation.

I think I may have finally checked off all the boxes after a recent guest, a psychiatrist and his wife stayed for a work assignment. I hadn't had an opportunity to meet with them until their last day here and when he did he put a smile on my face after telling me they packed all kinds of stuff for their journey and stay here but realized almost none of it was needed as I provided all of what they needed and beyond.

I started with comfort by providing comfortable beds along with top-quality bed linens as well as towels. The accommodations are frequently updated with attractive, updated, fresh and well-maintained accommodations. No one wants to live in ugly, stale surroundings for 3 months. Comfort also includes the ability to sleep when you work the overnights so I have provided heavy-duty blackout shades AND drapes. For those guests staying with us for the cooler weather months I provide heated mattress pads and if you have never used one they are amazing! Not only heated mattress pads, but heated throw blankets, heated towel rack and even a heated toilet seat, which funny enough gets rave reviews.

The bathroom is large and spacious with an antique clawfoot tub for soaking or that quick shower before your day (or night) begins.

To keep my Travelers entertained on their days off there are updated smart 4K TVs in all rooms except bathrooms that provide cable channels, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, all included in the rent. I also provide Echo upgraded speakers and Amazon Unlimited Music so whatever your music likes are just ask Alexa and she will even create a playlist for you - just ask. There are also lots of games, such as board games and there are even games that if you are traveling solo you can play with Alexa as your opposing player.

We are pet-friendly too for those who just can't imagine traveling without their best friend. Sorry dogs only due to allergies.

Your surroundings are peaceful and serene on a former equestrian estate with 7 acres of well-maintained fields and pastures with the Maine mountains as a backdrop. For those here in the summer and fall we have lush perennial gardens. Best of all no need to be bored on your days off as we are surrounded by lakes, and mountains for those that like to ski within a short driving distance and the closed Pleasant Mountain is only 5.4 miles away. The area has plenty of hiking trails, sightseeing locations and Portland, Maine and the ocean is as close as 1 hour away. North Conway, NH is only 25 minutes away with outlet shops galore - all tax-free in New Hampshire. Beyond the shopping, amazing places and sights to see in and around the White Mountains of New Hampshire, including Mt. Washington, which has the highest summit on the East Coast. You can reach the summit of Mt. Washington by driving yourself or taking a guided van or The Cog Railroad for an exciting trip where on a clear day you can see into 5 different states.

You also have an outside grilling and dining area with a gas grill and a table with seating.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, full-size fridge, dishwasher, etc. with lots of dishware, cookware, utensils, etc. I almost forgot everyone's favorite appliance, an Instant Pot. Of course you have a microwave and 3 ways to make coffee, so take your pick from an automatic drip coffee maker, Keurig or a French Press and of course there is a grinder for your favorite beans. There are many other small appliances too such as a juicer, blender, toaster (4 slice), and many more in the pantry closet. A favorite appliance of many is the omelet/pancake & Belgium Waffle maker.

I know no one likes to clean so I have made doing so as convenient as possible with "Shawnee", a Robot Vacuum that can vacuum when you are at home or at work. There is also an additional Shark Hydrovac that vacuums and washes the floor simultaneously and a traditional Shark upright vacuum. A front-loading washer and dryer is also just steps outside your apartment door.

All living room end tables and bedside tables have an electrical port and USB ports built right into them making it easy to plug in whatever device you have.
For safety's sake, there are smoke and CO monitors that communicate with each other so when one goes off they all go off. Better to be safe than sorry, even if it does get a little noisy.

If there is something more you need and I have not mentioned just ask chances are it might be there but if not I will probably be open to adding it.

You will have to bring your toothbrush!!

Note: ALL UTILITIES ARE INCLUDED, WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT IN MAINE AS MAINE HAS SOME OF THE HIGHEST HEAT AND ELECTRICITY COSTS IN THE UNITED STATES. It is a law in Maine that when a landlord requires you to pay for the utility costs, i.e. electricity and heat, they must disclose the prior 12-month history of usage and costs. The costs of utilities can dramatically affect your monthly budget in Maine.

We provide our own snowplowing, which enables us to plow according to your work schedule needs vs. waiting for a plowing contractor to arrive according to their schedule and preferences. This is a big plus in Maine, where snowfalls are often and may be very heavy at times.
