HHS provided my children with a great education, a wonderful environment, and have faculty and staff who love students. Now my grandchildren are receiving that same great experience Hicks High School is known for. The moment you step on campus you feel the positivity and love. Students are motivated to do their best not only in the classroom, but on the stage in musical performances, on the field and on the court. HHS leads Class B schools in percentage of HS graduates also graduating with an associate degree. This school is a wonderful place for students to attend.

This is not a good school the studies are always bullying and overall do not go to this school.

Steer clear if your child has an IEP/504. A 3rd grade teacher told me he prioritizes students without IEPs and the administration seems to think it is fine. We have been fight them for 2 months after finding out they "accidentally" removed my daughter from general education and acted like I should understand the mistake. My daughter is massively behind now that she was in pulled into full time special education for the first half of the year. Now she is back in general education, but struggling very badly, and they refuse to do anything to try and fix their "mistake". It has been nothing put heartache and I have watched the joy of school drain from my daughter, and i don't know if anything will ever be able to fix that. If you are military good luck, they make it very clear they only want something to do with us for the money.

Due to Army PCSs, my kids started school in Vernon Parish (including Rospine) then attended schools in GA, IN, WA and returned to Rosepine for the 2024-25 school year. Had we not moved, my son, a junior would be taking French III, AP Calc, AP Hist, AP Psych, etc. Sadly, these courses are not offered here. However, if they were available, they'd probably have low participation. It sucks, but probably can't be helped. It's a very small school. There is a chemistry teacher [2024-25] who in real life assigned a mole themed sewing project worth a CHEMISTRY test grade and she grades legit tests on a curve that is in no way mathematically sound. I'm not expecting him to learn very much chemistry this year. There are also a few teachers and a resource officer who I wish were focused more on educating than spreading their religious and political views. Having previously served in leadership roles and as a Military Science Instructor at Indiana University, I would never use my position of authority and influence to shape the religious or political views of my subordinates or students to better fit my own. That would be immoral. They shouldn't be doing it to minors. Not okay. All that being said, I think this is a pretty good school for the vast majority of its students. If your kids must go to school in Louisiana, Rosepine is hands down where you want them to go.

This school is so bad. There were roaches and rats everywhere, the classrooms are dirty, the teachers don’t care about the students. 0/10. Do better.

I have fun in this school I love my teachers and I learn a whole lot

This school is okay at best, it’s sad that it’s considered one the best in the parish. A whole lot of worksheets education with barely to none hands- on education. They don’t offer any extra curricular activities for the kids. They don’t offer music or art. The kids get burn out quickly at this school. The PTO acts like they’re a exclusive club of mean girls, They have been there for years and are not welcoming to new parents who want to be part of the PTO. I could go on and on. Definitely not impressed with this school and glad we are done with it!
