MISD and Island Park just failed through COVID and special education is grossly underfunded and poorly run. The teachers care and want to teach, but the administration holds them back and many great teachers are forced to deliver a mediocre teaching experience due to top down management forces.

We have had a wonderful experience with Mercer Island High School. One of our daughters has already graduated, and our younger daughter is set to graduate this year. Both have been accepted into outstanding colleges, and we couldn’t be happier with the education and support they received at MIHS.Our older daughter was exceptionally well-prepared for college, making the transition smooth, while our younger daughter gained admission to a highly competitive school—something we attribute in part to MIHS’s strong reputation. One was deeply involved in theatre, and the other excelled in sports, both benefiting from outstanding programs that enriched their high school experience.Beyond academics and extracurriculars, the Mercer Island parent community has been incredibly supportive. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting families who care deeply about their children’s education and the school as a whole. Our time at MIHS has been nothing short of exceptional, and we are truly grateful.

i am a current student in the highly capable program. it is not much different from being in regular classes, but it does move faster. i find that mojority of the time the teachers are flexable and can work with you to meet ur needs. also there is a 30 minute period at the end of the day called gator time wich is where you can get homwwork done. im also in band and it is one of my fav classes. the teachers are realy nice.
