2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy sister went here for a year. The emotional trauma she went through from the students themselves and at the hands of the staff affected her for the rest of her middle school years. She is special needs and her teachers did absolutely nothing for her. They would give her packets printed off of Google and would never answer her questions or show her the lectures on subjects. Students would attempt to throw water on her hearing aids and staff never attempted to discipline them. Don’t bring your child here.Other Review1y ago - Crenshaw Science, Technology, Engineering, Math And Medicine Magnet

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a black parent of a child who was attending Crenshaw H.S. This is an under performing school that needs to be shut down. The inner city need vouchers. They need to shut down this school for failing students in both math and English. People, we need to wake up...we are and should not be victims of our own government institutions!!!!!Other Review7y ago - Forty-Second Street Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSince the pandemic, 42nd street has improved vastly! There’s a new principal who is approachable, engaged, and committed to improving learning outcomes. He has also created new opportunities for students to engage in STEM learning and financial literacy, and he has helped 42nd street to become part of the pathway to USC program. They offer a dual language program with outstanding new teachers, there’s a beautiful organic garden, and a parent center with incredible organizers. There is a real sense of community here, and we have been very pleased with our child’s experience as a 42nd st. Falcon!Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 4610 Arlington Ave #4610.

"I lived in this neighborhood for over a year. The weekends are loud you can hear music being played from houses down the street. Not walkable at all. Huge dogs everywhere and doesn’t feel the safest. Pretty dirty and unmaintained. Closest grocery store is a food for less which is dirty and not where I would want to buy my groceries."

"this area is a melting pot of many different long- standing Los Angeles lineages of all different types. there is a strong certain respect for people who have lived here all their lives and stand against letting the neighborhood be bought out i (gentrified) in any way. I admire it :) Also, there are some beautiful, beautiful front yard gardens ❤️"

"Some neighbors let their dogs roam the neighborhood. Many neighbors keep their dogs outside all day and night as they bark constantly because they don’t take them on walks. "

"of you go to school here or need to be here cool but for raising children not the location. I have 2 boys and this is not the place I would be having them go out side or run around. also there is almost never any parking here. I could buy a new car with all that I owe in parking tickets"

"I've lived here for 3 years now and some of the neighbors are friendly and we all look out for one another. There's a laundry mat right across the street from where I live so it's really convenient when laundry needs to be done a plus about that is I don't have to cross a busy intersection it's right on the corner of a residential neighborhood. "Nothing. this is a fine neighborhood to live in as long as you parent your kids properly. There is not too much activity at night. you hear sirens or a helicopter every once in a while but not lately. "

"Like most of L. A. , we are over - crowded by families who exceed maximum occupancy; averaging about 30 per household. One bedroom apts hold 3 generations. Everyone gets a loud birthday party and all parties are outside. Good luck finding a parking space on the same block. "

"There are a lot of lose dogs around the neighborhood and many aren’t trained so it can pose a threat to your dog. People don’t pick up after their dogs so there is poop on the sidewalks. Also it can be hard to walk your dog because there is a lot of trash on the street and sidewalks so your dog might chew things up. "

"Fairs and parks are plentiful, small block parks everywhere. We have 3 in a 8 block radius There is a homeless problem; that’s all over the country Theft is very low people respect each other’s property in that way. Not the prettiest are the newest but is fairly safe I catch the bus to work and it is actually the best bus line in the city of Los Angeles comes every five minutes it goes from Gardena to Hollywood every five minutes "

"Be diligent parents regardless of your neighborhood. Children look to their parents for guidance and protection. If economic means makes an undesirable neighborhood more suitable, bring awareness to your children about the importance of being humble, yet not allowing that same economical situation to be a hindrance to achievement. "Always a long commute. Wether I drive or use public transportation. The streets have also been redone to accommodate bikers & scooters with their own lanes but most riders don’t follow the signs or lights. You have to be a super defensive driver."

"There aren’t any that I am aware of. No sense of community here. It has a long way to go. The old houses are beautiful. Parking is a nightmare. Proximity to metro is great. "

"I don't know of any. I rarely go out in my neighborhood. There's to many people loitering outside of liquor stores, which essentially cause gang violence or shootings."
