Having three kids and moving around a few times, I’ve been a parent at four different districts and elementary schools. I can say without hesitation that Haun is the by far the worst. My main issue is the level of education. I have three kids covering the scope of needs from challenged to gifted. Haun teaches solely to the average student. It is not equipped to deal with students who struggle academically, and it is even worse for kids who need more accelerated academics. It’s a one size fits all approach. It is difficult to get help from the district and school administration because the educators are allowed very little discretion and ability to offer anything other the standard approach. I have tried to meet with the principal on numerous occasions, and she is unavailable to meet with parents. I never had any issue meeting with principals in other schools. In fact, they would typically go out of their way to introduce themselves to parents and make themselves available. But that’s not the culture at Haun. Before coming to Haun, I had never previously considered home schooling any of my children. Now I am.
