About this House

Built-in the 1940s on I-80, the Old West Inn of Wells, Nevada, is an abandoned motel strategically located to serve east-central Nevada interstate truckers, government employees, construction workers, railroad workers, as well as other commercial and leisure travelers. Most of the motel?s patrons come from interstate travelers. The reception area has a porte-cochere. 15K sft two-story with basement (stair access), casino, bar and resaturent, huge dance floor. The manager?s live in a one-bedroom on-site apartment. Furnishings in rooms and limited common guest areas are in good condition and are typically 10-years-old. The motel is on city water and city sewer.

Wells, Nevada, has served as an important stopping place for travelers since the pioneer?s westward migration during the mid 1800?s. The California-Oregon Trail, which parallels I-80 in northern Nevada, joins the headwaters of the Humboldt River near the present site of Wells. In September, 1869, Humboldt Wells established a station on the Union Pacific Railroad at the present site of Wells ? and gave the town its name. Since then, the town has provided extensive services for commercial and leisure travelers. The pioneer and passenger train era has passed into history, but Wells remains an important travel center. Wells is strategically located at the crossroads created by I-80 and U.S. 93. I-80 is a main east-west transcontinental artery. U.S. 93 extends from Alaska to Panama, and is the route favored by the Canadian "Snowbirds" ? retirees who travel between Canada where they ?Summer? and Arizona/Nevada/Mexico where they winter.
