4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a military family and have been at this school for the past 4 years. Each year we've had wonderful teachers that have gone the extra mile to help our children. One of my children struggles with anxiety and speaking in public settings. The entire staff have worked tirelessly to accommodate her to help her learning experiences. They helped us seek out additional resources. They modified assignments (even without a 504 plan in place). They helped us establish a 504 plan. Our previous school in the southeast U.S. paled in comparison (that school fought us every step of the way in seeking resources for our child). Horizons has changed principals twice since we began here, but we've not had any difficulties. The administration seem eager to support all of students. I can't speak to the other recent reviews referring to disengaged teachers, but as a former teacher myself, I've not once found that to be the case in our 4 years here. We have two children at this school now and we've been pleased with our experience. They are constantly having events for students and families (Spirit weeks, reward parties for reaching academic goals class-wide, and seasonal events, STEM events, etc.). The PTA here is also very hard-working. Go Horizons Eagles! Thank you, teachers, for all you do.Parent Review1y ago12 Reviews - Komachin Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a child in this school district, and I remember always feeling like the Komachin kids, had a better schedule and learning environment. Fast forward 20 years and I still feel that way. My daughter now attends this school after going to Washington middle school for a year. And this is way better engagement and experience than Washington.Parent Review2y ago9 Reviews - Timberline High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son came from Nisqually MS and blossomed. Academically he was challenged but has manageable homework which allows him time after school. Their sports coaches are amazing, caring and supportive. My son does baseball and wrestling and the coaches build up these kids with great life skills. My daughter attends their softball camp and developed a love now for the sport! I love that they embrace not only skills for college but they support military and trades- I appreciate this since not all kids want to go to college. "I commute 35 minutes to work in Tacoma. If I miss my time window it can be 45-50 minutes. If there’s an accident on i5, easily an hour +"

"They are a lot of families with young children and there are a multitude of parks littered around the neighborhood. It’s fairly safe and I’ve never had anything bad happen. People tend to drive safely as well. Public transit is safe, free, and reliable. I used to take the bus by myself when I was in high school."

"Commute to work is about 15 minutes if I-5 north is not backed up. Commute to stores is only 10 minutes and have access to whatever I may be looking for. Lots of roundabouts keep traffic to a minimum."

"My neighborhood used to be very quiet and peaceful, with friendly neighbors and plenty of open space. It’s still a nice and safe area, but over the past few years it has become more crowded. More houses and cars have moved in, and you can feel the difference in how busy it’s getting. Even so, it still has that welcoming community feel that makes it a pleasant place to live."

"Very close to bus stop. However, I have never used public transportation. The commute to downtown is about 45 minutes. "

"I walked my dog here all the time until they built new apartment complex and now it’s overwhelming how many people are out walking their dogs. I think every living neighborhood facility should supply their own dog park, especially when they are aloud to have them in their home."

"Lots of people walk their dogs up and down the street here. Dog owners are expected to clean up after their pets, but that seems to be a normal practice. "

"We are in a neighborhood with HOA so they take care of all the front yards and common areas very nicely. We rent but I would not buy a house on this street because the trains run right behind and it’s loud and runs all night. "
