2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe reason I do not recommend this school is because of all the bullying and fighting. this school also I felt had a very negative effect on my child going to school with some students who had no home training resulted in my daughter having to become tougher and not focused on her studies because she was too worried about drama or being assaulted. we had plenty of meetings and tried to control situations but in this time its too hard to control with bullying in school and also cyber bullying. The school could become stricter with discipline but also I love how they changed the school hours. Teachers should not be baby sitters so im all for kids getting out of school by 2:50.Parent Review8mo ago - Gulfport Montessori Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is by far the worst school I have ever sent my child. There is daily violence and overall unacceptable behavior in the students. The kids who want to learn can’t due to the poor atmosphere. The teachers are great and very supportive but unfortunately the kids seem to be ruling the school here. 100% don’t recommend sending your child to this school. Luckily we don’t have to go back next year.Parent Review11mo ago - Lakewood High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to Lakewood for about 2 years in my Freshmen-Sophomore years. The school is one year (as of 2023) away from being taken over by the state because of how bad their test scores are and haven't shown any improvement. Some of the teachers are wonderful and want to help students, others aren't as great. Because of student behavior, it can be difficult for teachers to be on time for certain subject areas and prepare the students for success on tests. The administration is horrible, and they usually only seem to really care about the CAT kids and the Football team. If you take away CAT scores, then you'll have a very little amount of people who are actually succeeding. I've seen sexual assault problems, drug problems, teacher problems, administration problems, etc. It's not unusual for a student to be searched on campus, and expect fights at least once or twice a month(+) on average. CAT kids are pushed extremely hard compared to 'regular' students and have difficulty regulating it. The other programs aren't really heard of. Their journalism program can be great, as long as you get along with the teacher(s). Otherwise, you're doomed. You'll see the same group of kids in your AP/honors/Dual Enrollment classes almost every time (usually CAT kids). Most students and parents have problems with one of the Spanish teachers every year and end up failing. I'd steer away from this school if you're not looking to be taken over by the state anytime soon, especially if you're not one of the Football players or CAT students.Other Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 4500 37th St S.

"They would not like the small dog park. It is usually a mud pit. Some don’t pick up afterwards. And let them tinkle outside of the door area. So when you walk up it smells."

"Nothing. Nobody says hello. The building is not in good repair. Windows are painted shut. And this area is surrounded by a metal fence…but only one way out if a building caught fire."

"Easy area to walk your dog around. Sidewalks, streetlights. The area can seem a little more rough than it is at first. Walking your dog around is a good way to get to the know the folks around you. I love my neighbors. People really watch out for each other here. If they know who you are, they’ll treat you with the same respect you give them. "

"The neighborhood is pretty and Walter Fuller park is beautiful and huge… but you’ll likely find the neighbors from the multiple crackhouses sleeping on the tables and benches of you go before 9am. I’ve been yelled at and creeped on while waking the dog or when the kids are with me so I tend to avoid it that early unless I’m with a friend. Also there’s usually multiple police cars and surveillance vans parked all along 28th street, I’ve seen a few raids but the crack house is going strong. "
