About this House

Luxury Executive Rental, short-term (5-8 mos). Beautiful, convenient Ardsley Park is the setting for this lovely house with nearly 100 years of history and charm, freshly updated to a tasteful luxury standard. The house is fully furnished with a mix of antique and new pieces, lovely rugs, artwork, all linens and a fully outfitted gourmet kitchen. This is a wonderful short-term home for the discerning visitor, new resident, or someone needing a temporary home for business or pleasure in Savannah.

The long, double storied porch which forms the front of the house opens onto a refined entry foyer. This gives access to the main rooms of the ground floor as well as to the graceful stairway that leads to the upper floor. On one side of the ground floor, a long living room with marble fireplace, built-in bookshelves, and a baby grand piano opens onto the dining room. On the other side, a cozy study provides a wonderful space to work, write or curl up on the leather couch with a good book or to watch a movie on the large screen television. Just off the hallway leading to the back of the house is a spacious laundry room with a large washer and dryer, hanging rack for clothers, sink, commercial quality ice machine, and floor to ceiling cabinets and closets. At the rear of the house a large and bright gourmet kitchen is fitted out with marble, granite, and walnut counters, high end appliances including a 6 burner, double oven range, coffee makers and tea kettle, and all the pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery you should need. Adjoining the kitchen is an elegant half bath with Hermes jungle wallpaper.

From the front foyer, the stairway rises up to divide at the landing. The left-hand turning takes you to the front of the house with two bedrooms, each of have which direct access to the upstairs porch. This is a perfect spot to sit in a rocker and enjoy afternoon tea or an aperitif. The master bedroom occupies one whole side of the house, its king- bedded sleeping area leading into a large marble bathroom. Here you will find a soaking tub and a separate marble tiled shower, and a large dressing room with ample closet and drawer space. On the other side of the hallway the queen room, with its private bathroom, also enjoys its own access to the live oak shaded porch out front. Taking the stairway towards the back of the house, you pass through a lockable doorway to a private hallway which leads you to the two rear bedrooms. One of these is outfitted with a comfortable king bed, the other with a day-bed which is also a trundle bed. The desk and comfortable office chair in this room also encourage its use as a home office. These rooms, which can either function as two separate bedrooms or as a two room suite ,share a private marble bathroom.

Go out the back door from the kitchen and you step into a private, walled oasis of sub-tropical serenity, with palm trees, bamboo, citrus trees, perennial flowers, camelia and gardenia bushes, and a large brick patio. This latter is complete with a wicker couch and chairs, a fire pit, and an eight foot teak table with umbrella, perfect for an evening dinner. Our the laundry room door and adjacent to the teak table is a long counter with large gas grill. To top it all off, this patio also fronts on a beautiful plunge pool/spa combination with an enchanting, Islamic garden-inspired waterfall - a perfect place to begin or end your Savannah day or simply relax with a cold drink on a hot summer afternoon.

Surrounded by the sun-dappled, Spanish moss-draped, majestic live oaks for which Ardsley is justly famous, the neighborhood is a wonderful and serene garden. At the same time, it is surprisingly close to the historic downtown, Forsyth and Daffin parks, and the bustling and vibrant neighborhoods of modern Savannah. The trendy Starland district with its restaurants, shops, and brew pubs is only steps away. Just around the corner, Tareau Cafe offers a delightfully French-inspired coffee, pastry, and cuisine experience. SCAD, the SAV airport and Gulfstream, and the new Hyundai meta plant are all close at hand. There is plenty of free, on-street parking directly in front of the house.

The house is perfect for a couple or small family wanting a spacious but not overwhelming house, with room to host friends and family. "I work out in West Chatham. getting on 16 in the morning isn't bad, and I'm going against traffic, which is great. crossing derenne after getting my daughter from daycare in the afternoon is the worst but I'm not usually stuck through more than one light"

"Beautiful tree lined streets. Close to downtown. Great parks. Starland district is booming. First Fridays make a great community outing. "
  • Ckalinsky
"We moved here after living in the New York area for 30 years. I've always loved neighborhoods with young people, families, animals and community involvement. Perhaps why my favorite places were Hoboken and Brooklyn, both before the tide of Hip washed over them. This area has that vibe. Artists, families, young singles, friendly streets, kids playing, people walking dogs and little parks every where. "
