About this House

Available October 24th - This one-of-a-kind 1 bedroom, 1 bath Ivy cottage is located in the desirable Murray Elementary school district and is tucked off of Dick Woods Road on 3.37
mostly wooded acres. Surrounded by native forest plants in a naturalistic setting, the property is a peaceful and private oasis. Just minutes from the I-64 Ivy exit and the Miller School of Albemarle! Under 9 miles from Wegmans at 5th St Station, and 12 miles from the University of Virginia and downtown Charlottesville. Also enjoy the convenience to Chiles Peach Orchard, vineyards, and breweries in Crozet.

The A-Frame style cottage offers 1,008 finished sqft with a full loft offering space for two sleeping areas. Features include: hardwood flooring, an open first floor with a propane Hearthstone fireplace in the living and dining space, a kitchen with an electric oven, propane cooktop, and pantry closet, plus a large bathroom with a stacked front loading washer and dryer. The loft area above can be decorated to offer a main bedroom space and desk area, or even a nursery or young child's bed.

A large deck wraps around the cottage and offers plenty of space to enjoy the natural setting. A separate light-filled Yurt is located in the rear of the cottage and would work well as a guest bedroom or home office space in the Spring & Fall, or a peaceful spot to do yoga. A large established garden, a variety of fruit trees (apple, pear, fig, raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry), and a smaller herb garden are set in the flat lower area of the property.

Rent includes: lawn care. Well water is available. Propane tanks are currently full for the incoming residents (and will need to be returned full at move-out). A lease commitment through Summer 2025 (or 2026) is available. The rent will increase to market value ($1,825/mo) on August 1, 2025.

This property is within the following school district:

"Albemarle county is a great school district."
  • MeRita Page
"People walk their dogs here all the time. It’s a nice quiet, friendly neighborhood. No issues after dark. The people in this neighborhood speak and acknowledge you."
  • Bianca Geronimo
"Not too bad. Sometimes the main roads get backed up because of the lights, but it’s not as bad as a big city"
  • Amy Glover
"Overall, just like the closeness of everything. It’s got lots of stores and unique experiences to have at local parks and even has a skate park at one park. The vibe is pretty good most of the time here. "
  • Cara Pierce
"There are a lot of children and families in the neighborhood but there are also homeless individuals and stray dogs. "
  • Amy Glover
"My commute is short but sometimes has lots of traffic during certain times of the day. Overall, I do not have many issues with getting to and from work. "
  • Angel Morris
"Street gatherings are the best. Also love community activities at the community pool, food trucks, social media connections and nature trail."
  • Corey Day
"This city could do some work. The streets are too narrow. Highway 29 is too chaotic and out of place. Charlottesville is too small to have a 8 lane road"
  • Lchou
"Close to U V A, downtown, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and everything C’ville but surrounded by nature. We have the best of both worlds! I can not believe how many good supermarkets we have in the area. There are so many nature trails for walking and hiking. "
  • Trulia User
"Nothing unless you want to count the crime!!! The Spark is a terrible place to live! Gone through countless managers with everyone promising to make a change and the only thing that changes is the staff. Nothing gets fixed and the current office manager is rude. There is a serious rodent issue that everybody ignores and continually sends the insect companies to spray just so they can say they are doing something. Can’t wait to leave!!!"
  • Trulia User
