Spacious 1 bedroom stand alone house in SE hills on wooded lot, (with 3 neighboring nearby homes). Accessory dwelling unit has its own entrance, shares a driveway with the main house. Off street parking in the driveway for 1 standard size car, no room for an RV or larger truck. The house is built over a detached 2 car garage that is not for resident use
About 800 square feet. Big single bedroom 24'x24' with 2 closets (each closet is about 6'x 6', but under the roof slope.) Open upstairs loft about 10'x12' with a wood handrail. One skylight.
Good sized kitchen with gas range about 12'x24'. The kitchen is spacious though just 4' upper cabinets and 3' lower cabinets plus a 21" pantry shelf. There is no dishwasher, nor a garbage disposal. Gas range is a simple model. 40 gallon electric hat water heater right next to the kitchen sink. Breakfast bar with two stools about 6' from the small water garden with iris and clematis. Clothes washer/dryer is next to the kitchen.
Bathroom 6'x12' has basic tub/shower and linen closet 36 wide. Heated by cadet wall heaters in kitchen and bath, natural gas fireplace heats upstairs bedroom. There are a lot of deer and wild turkeys around here, tree cover means direct sun is limited to mornings until about 1 pm, then direct sun is shaded by trees. Therefore there is not really space for an outdoor garden, but there is a planter box upstairs about 8' x 14" with about 4 hours direct sun.
Rent includes water/sewer, tenant pays gas and electric and internet. I know xfinity serves the house with good download speed, century link service may be also available.
Some custom woodworking, house was not intended as a museum piece but a simple home. Some finishes are simple.
I have just the one house available. In your reply, tell me a bit about yourself, your interests and goals. The house will not be a good fit for any type of commercial use nor as an all day home office. I occasionally use the garage beneath as a wood workshop and for loading/unloading tools but normally working away from the house.
Since we would be sharing a driveway, I need to find just the right person. No drama, please. University affiliation welcome. Sorry, I don't have have another similar house for rent.
It is about 7 minute walk to the bus stop, and good connection to E. Amazon bike path to campus.
I had a great experience with my last renter. (grad student at the U of O.) Maturity preferred.
The house is ready to move in now, if you want to move in after August 1, I would need to collect rent beginning Aug 1. Patiently awaiting the right (low drama) situation.
