"Living in Paauilo is either a glass half full or glass half empty sort of situation. You could either say that it's not close to anything, or you could also say that it's not too far from everything. HIlo is about 45 minutes away, Waimea is about 25, and Kona is about an hour away. One thing you can't argue with is the beauty. This place sports some of the best coastal views on the island with green rolling hills and wide open pastures. Another big plus is the centrally-located elementary-middle school. By Big Island standards it's the best public school on the island. It's small, safe, and makes AYP every year. This is a good place to keep the local style but also raise your kids with a good education. "
