The assistant principal runs the school. She is lazy and hateful. My child had one teacher that shamed him for asking him for help and there are many bullies that hurt my child. Most teachers don't teach and simply don't care. Although there are a few exceptions. Do yourself a favor and don't put your child there. It isn't a safe or educational environment.

My student is an 11th grader at Manitou High School. He choiced into the district in the 9th grade. Overall, we have been fairly happy, because it is a smaller school, and you get all the pros and cons that come with that small-town feel. Class selection is very limited and has reduced significantly since we toured the school. The only language offered is Spanish ( they had German and French when we applied) . They do not have a large selection of electives, and even cut several English electives this year. They have an ok selection of Ap and honors classes and push those options. The positive side is that the students are mostly respectful, and the teachers are great! The school has almost all of the typical sports, and will help students find activities at other schools if they don't have what they are looking for. They do a great job offering opportunities to check out post-school programs to help guide the students into an opportunity they may love. The Best part of the school is the class size, typically you have less than 16 students in a class!

I am a teacher at this school but have a current student attending and have had another student go through. MSES is a tight knit community that welcomes any and all students! Teachers create strong academic environments where students get hands on opportunities to explore learning and create positive relationships with their classmates and school staff. On top of their homeroom learning, students have the opportunity to explore art, music, Spanish and STEM classes! Concerts, art showcases, cultural projects and science based projects are just a few of the fun extra curricular opportunities every K-5 student participates in. Whole child learning is lived out every day at MSES!In short, my students sums up what this school means to them on snow days, holidays, and weekends..."Awww, I don't want to miss school!" There is real care, attention and love for students at MSES and I highly recommend you check out this hidden gem in public education!
