Description

For sale or lease! This historical gem is one of a kind! Do not miss this rare opportunity to acquire a high visibility corner storefront across from the infamous Westclox building. You will also be only minutes from the ever popular Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks. Within a flexible neighborhood with Commercial Zoning, this location accommodates a very broad range of small-scale, business, service, and commercial uses. A furniture store has occupied this space for 50 years but it could be the perfect retail space, restaurant, bar, event space, antique mall, or any other dream that you might have. The wide open plan with great ceiling height and lots of natural light offers wonderful marketing opportunities with signage/window/banner exposure on busy Route 6. The second floor has unlimited potential with more high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and a massive amount of storage. This property also includes a full, dry basement perfect for even more storage. In the rear of the building, you will find an adorable, modern one bedroom apartment. The 15' x 100' lot on the side of the building is convenient for off street owner parking or would make a great outside patio :) This property is located within the Peru enterprise zone. With endless opportunities for an owner or investor, this is a sought after property so act quickly. The current owner is open to partial or full owner financing. The property is also for lease for the first floor and basement only at $3500/mo.

"Schools are great! City puts on great summer camps each year. It’s fairly safe for teen/tweens to walk around to parks and school with friends."
  • Barbiebrox
"Very nice neighborhood close to everything, friendly neighbors a mix of families of all sizes. Nice tall Oaks and beautiful older homes. Mine was built in 1911."
  • Barbiebrox
"Very friendly, very safe and close to downtown, and Illinois River Close to Interstate 80. Not far from Starved Rock & Ottawa."
  • Elaina L.
"I have multiple police officers that live in a 4-5 block span. they are amazing and keep us safe and the neighborhood quite"
  • Barbiebrox

"Well I moved to this neighborhood almost 6 years ago and I have to say that it is a great town to raise kids.. And the school system is wonderful.. I would love to buy a home and raise my family here til I pass.. "
  • Johnpatrick n.
"Great school systems! And I love the people out here.. I have lived here for almost 7 years and it’s a great place to raise kids"
  • kacymayday
"I have lived in the area for 5 years and I love that literally EVERYTHIMG is a short walk or drive away. It has warm small town feel with the benifit of all of the larger town and city stores, restaurants and entertainment. Great place to retire or raise a family and the cost of living is far less compared to other areas. "
  • elj61354
" I've lived in the area most of my life, hope to retire to Peru. I only wish the city fathers would take pedestrians and bicycles into account. Not many sidewalks, NO bike paths, and pets are not allowed in parks, except for the Dog Park, which is just a small fenced in area. If you want to walk to the mall or shopping area, you are putting your life in the hands of hurried drivers. It is nearly impossible to cross Rt. 251. On the good side, you could live your entire life here and never have to leave town. It really is a full service community, you just have to use your car to get around."
