7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from Rio Vista Elemetary in Anaheim to El Moro in Laguna Beach where my son has attended 3rd grade via virtual academy and now 4th grade in person. Standards were low at Rio Vista and my son fell behind, we thought he was doing well! El Moro raised the standards and, on their own, provided him with extra support to catch him up. With such a beautiful location, teachers are happy to be here and want every student to succeed. They are kind and patient, excited to teach bringing love and fun into their classrooms and are strong advocates against bullying. The principal is on top of it, kind, prompt, concerned for every students well being and success. Their school events are big! Wow! People really show up for their kids here, it's amazing to see a community that cares so much about education and emotional support. As a school that puts mental health over grades, the love and support they shower our kids with here is shown in their test scores.Parent Review4y ago5 Reviews - Laguna Beach High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers do not teach an adequate curriculum and do no allow students to move ahead if they have already learned or proven they have more advanced knowledge on the subject. The school has no protection and is oblivious to bullying. The flimsy school board wants students to be at the same level and will heavily resist any movement up to higher level classes. This school is great for those who are not as smart but fails to provide and prevents the necessary accommodations for those who are more advanced than average.Student Review1y ago8 Reviews - Thurston Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are mostly fantastic, but the bullying is horrendous. It's beyond anything at my friends' children's other schools. The school's leaders need to stop protecting and tiptoeing around bullies that beat the you know what out of good kids and destroy their self-esteem with severe harassment that is tolerated by the adults. They need to give bullies a required class to help them change, tell the non-caring parents that their bully students are on probation, and expel them if they don't shape up. It's an epidemic at Thurston, and older parents tell us it has been this way for years.Parent Review8mo ago11 Reviews - Check out schools near 425 Ruby St.

"The area is great. Schools are top notch & people are very kind. The roads are tore up & lots of vacant buildings. It’s sad "

"Free trolley and local vehicle transport is free for locals and visitors and makes transportation easy throughout the city, but influx of visitors in warmer months heavily impacts traffic. As a local, riding a bike is easier to get around in than a vehicle when it’s 68° or above."

"Laguna has a lot of charm, good food and shopping, a variety of coffee shops/cafes, and mostly friendly people. Overall dog friendly but public spaces like side walks, grassy areas, and roads could be better (and the city is slowly but surely updating). "

"Many families in the area, good schools. Community is rather safe for kids. But mainly the streets aren’t always safe as there are many bad and reckless drivers that come through laguna. That would be my greatest concern as a parent in Laguna. Driver’s education and safety for pedestrians and cyclists "

"I live in downtown Laguna — just steps a way from Festivsl of the Arts, Saw Dust and lots of great places to shop, eat and socialize. The beach is just a short 5 min walk away. "

"The Dogs I see always seem happy. Plus, There is a dog park where they can play off leash. The area is a beautiful place to walk your dog. Only certain areas at the beach are dog friendly."

"I have lived here for 3 years. I love it here. People are friendly and helpful. You can walk to the best restaurants, great shops, grocery stores, and art galleries. Love walking to the post office. It feels like a small town although people come here from all walks of life and visit from all over the world."

"Most of the time there is easy access through the canyon. Sometimes there is traffic, but most the time the drive is great. I love it when I get to drive on PCH to either Newport Beach or Dana Point. It is some of the most beautiful coast in California."

"Good family neighborhood, nice area, low crime. No sidewalks, so street infrastructure can be unsafe. Parks are driving distance, not many parks in walking distance. PCH and bad drivers are a larger risk. "

"Right now it’s walking down the hall. Otherwise, at 6:00 AM 20 minutes to Newport Beach. Traffic is not an issue at that hour. "

"I think it’s important that parents take their kids to the parks in the neighborhood and Laguna for their kids to play with each other. The baseball team through Laguna Beach and school activities are incredible. I see a lot of the high school kids and my grandson as well surfing down at Thalia Street"

"Our neighborhood has Moulton Meadows Park where children play soccer and neighbors play tennis and basketball. Lots of dog walking going on! Our block closes down one Sunday in the summer for a block party where we meet our neighbors and have pot luck. Halloween we go down to Oak Street to see and be seen in costumes."
