Welcome to Unit 24 at 425 E 11th Street, a stunning residence that perfectly captures Oakland's vibrant East Lake neighborhood. Located within the historic Mutual Creamery building, originally an ice cream factory built in the 1920s, this light-filled loft seamlessly blends vintage industrial character with modern comfort.

Upon entering, you are immediately drawn to the dramatic double-height ceilings and the massive, industrial-style windows that flood the main living area with natural light. Step out onto your private balcony to enjoy fresh air and extend your living space outdoors. The open-concept floor plan features warm wood-tone flooring and subtle exposed brick accents that pay homage to the building's architectural roots. The layout flows into a well-appointed kitchen, complete with light maple cabinetry, granite countertops, and a full suite of stainless steel appliances, including a gas range and dishwasher. It is an ideal space for both relaxing and entertaining.

A striking architectural spiral staircase leads you up to the upstairs bedroom level. This cozy, elevated retreat is designed with cork-style flooring for added warmth and sound dampening, creating a peaceful separation from the living area below. The lofted space also offers ample storage with large closets hidden behind louvered doors and enjoys excellent airflow from the ceiling fan and open railing.

For ultimate convenience, a stacked washer and dryer are tucked away neatly within the unit and the home is equipped with an central heating and A/C system. Residents of this gated community, which features a smart video intercom Butterfly MX entry system and secured mails and packages by Luxer One, also enjoy access to "The Pavilion," a charming communal courtyard perfect for outdoor relaxation. Each unit also includes a designated parking space located inside the gated building. This home puts you just moments away from the scenic shores of Lake Merritt, the Oakland Museum of California, and the bustling Sunday Farmers Market. With the Lake Merritt BART station less than a mile away and easy access to I-880 and I-580, this property offers a commuter-friendly lifestyle near Chinatown, Old Oakland, and the Brooklyn Basin waterfront.

What Locals Say about Merritt

  • Trulia User
"Bus, bike, drive, Bart, Muni, walk or run…. Pick the cheapest, fastest, or prettiest!I prefer biking alongside the waterfront!"
  • KW222
"Great neighborhood. Convenient to the lake and public transportation. A few nice restaurants and coffee shops around. Neighbors are pretty friendly for the most part. There is sometimes a sketchy element to the area and I have found needles, trash, shoes, etc dumped outside my apartment windows and have witnessed 2 violent fights on the street in the past 5 years. So as lovely as it is here I’d suggest to just be aware and cautious of what’s going on around you. Don’t leave anything in your car. Don’t walk around at night. "
  • Melissa
"Up and coming. Lots of new restaurants and bars. Amazing view and access to Lake Merritt. Close to Bart."
  • May E.
"Beautiful view, but a high-traffic area with very difficult parking. Proximity to Lake Merritt BART is great, and I generally feel safe walking after dark. "
