"The commute is easy to Virginia Beach, Downtown Norfolk and surrounding areas. I use the Marina often too and love it. Just a short drive a way from the beach or a nice walk. "
  • Trulia User
"Lots of family parties. The beach is great, but parking is an issue in the summer. Neighborhood is clean & safe. Walking to the beach & local brewery is very nice. "
  • Trulia User
"I like ocean View. Quiet, rapidly developing, always something to do and it’s good for young families with pets"
  • Trulia User
"Beautiful parks and safe sidewalks to enjoy the outdoors. I can’t wait to enjoy the beach this year with my grandchildren. "
  • Trulia User
"I love my neighborhood .The new management company that took over where I live and have lived for the past 7 years really stinks. They have no clue on what they are doing. I only work but the drive to the stores are easy and straight shots."
  • Trulia User
"It’s a great neighborhood for children, pets, running, and close convenient stores . The neighbors are great as well."
  • Trulia User
"Been living in Ocean View 4 years around 3rd bay st and never had any problems. Has a nice park. People do exercise alot and walk there dogs. Also has a beach in walkin distance"
  • Trulia User
"15 minutes to Naval Station Norfolk. The local bases are the perfect distance away. Close enough to drive to easily but far enough away to avoid hearing the aircraft and training exercises."
  • Trulia User
"the key is that you work on the same side of a tunnel or bridge and you wont have a problem. commutes are pretty easy to manage."
  • Trulia User
"an up and coming area with close proximity to East Beach amenities. there's great proximity to the beach, restaurants and shopping."
  • Trulia User
"The beach is close to the houses, many big and new houses built-up. A big park area in leas than a mile"
  • Denise J.
"Roads flood in this area also be mindful of the rain and high tide. Plan ahead and always be proactive about parking. Roads are narrow so watch out for kids in the area because there is not many places they can play. "
  • Michele B.
"A great neighborhood for everyone! Our beaches at the bay are very well kept and enjoyed by everyone. A nice place to live!"
  • Kerlange H.
"it's safe for children to play outside, it's pretty quiet, a lot of new homes & people are very friendly 😀 "
  • Cjackson14
"Dislikes: There are often poorly maintained sidewalks or no sidewalks in this neighborhood. There is often broken glass on the ground/sidewalk/street. Likes: the streets are usually pretty quiet, it’s a short walk to the beach where dogs are allowed at certain times, people seem to keep their dogs well controlled here I don’t hear a lot of barking or see loose dogs"
  • Mbroadnax85
"Ocean View is ok, but prone to tidal flooding on majority of the streets. Also there’s constant construction, with no previous notice beforehand. Extremely inconvenient on streets with only 1 way in and 1 way out."
  • Ashley S.
"Just moved here and I love it. Ocean View is a hidden gem, and an up-and-coming area. The people are friendly and it has a great “local” vibe "
  • Kristen L.
"Great location, everything within minutes, walking distance to stores, resturants, schools. Up and coming all around"
  • Ayana A. G.
"friendly, quiet, very convenient to interstate, militaty bases, and the outlet mall as well as ikea "
  • Edbajaii
"We are our own community and very safe and well maintained. Also a very pretty area, great for birdwatching."
  • Bricksolutions
"This is the next up coming area and will eventually be a good area for families. The city needs to improve schools in the area but that's the case everywhere "
  • Walther S.
"There are lots of parks and plenty of good sidewalks for dogs. The beach is also dog friendly for part of the year. "
  • Tricia M.
"New living here but everyone is friendly and seems to trying to change the community down side many improvements new construction and renovation to olde ocean view "
  • Trulia User
"Don't let your kids out after dark sometimes at night you can hear gunshots. Also don't let then go to convenience stores alone. "
  • Cindy H.
"Easy access to interstates, but there is heavy traffic at times. The area is being developed, so additional housing and entertainment are in the works. "
  • Danielle R.
"Ocean front neighborhood with a diverse community. You get a great homie vibe with a healthy dose of tourism "
  • William m.
"it's beautiful alot of things to do wit the kids and a alot of stores and and games i would like to move out here"
  • Matt
"East Beach is great. Community is designed for interaction so walks, golf carts, bikes and pets are in abundance. Once construction is complete (still a good number of new homes going up), it'll be hard to beat. Beautiful homes, tons of variety and well run architectural board. Highly recommend. "
  • Gaylekrissearl
"Friendly beach community. Waterfront property with great views. "
  • Dennis N.
"It's a nice area, but ... I bought a condo here in 2009. However ... if I was buying this year, I wouldn't. The place has become a wreck. It flooded in November 2009, and the so-called "homeowners association" never fixed the bowed-out fences or the eroded area. I rate it "terrible" on so many levels because of (a) Safety -- it's supposedly a gated community but 95 percent of the time the gate is either broken or doesn't work (b): Pet-friendly, if you like dog feces everywhere, I guess it is. I'm tired of it. I guess if you don't clean up after your dog, you'll love it here. (c) Restaurants and Shopping: I like Razzo and the Sandfiddler Cafe, but that's it for dining here, unless you're into crack ho's and smoke. There is no shopping. (d) Parks & Recreation: OK, there's a basketball hoop populated by the local kids. (e) The entire Norfolk Public School system is corrupt. If you can move to Virginia Beach, do so. (f) Traffic: No big deal. (g) Parking: If you don't mind the fact that everyone and his dog has an SUV and parks wherever they want to, you're fine. If you are the only person who uses their garage, you're weird. (h) Entertainment & Nightlife: See (d) above. Etc., etc.The pad my home sits on is now exposed and in danger of cracking. I'm doing what I can, but every time it rains, it's a flood through the alley between my condo and the next one. There's a huge mound of construction dirt that has never been removed. It has now sprouted trees and is the greenest thing on the property. My wife and I call it "Li'l Trashmore" . A light post was knocked down by construction vehicles during the winter of 2010 and has never been fixed. It's a hellhole of illegal alien workers much of the time, who throw trash everywhere while putting up houses that probably cost the builder about $25K to $50K to build while they sell for $300K to $500K. Requests for help go unanswered. If you'd like to see the flooding of 2009, visit this site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44624109@N0"
