About this House

Welcome to 412 Central in Wilmette, where lake life and luxury living come together, just three blocks from Gillson Beach. Set on an oversized 100' x 175' landscaped lot with mature trees and incredible privacy, this is the kind of home that feels like a getaway, while still being right in the heart of everything. Built by Talmadge & Watson and thoughtfully renovated and redesigned with a seamless three-story addition, the home pairs classic architecture with bright, modern living. With 5 bedrooms, 5.1 baths, calm finishes, and sunlight pouring in through large windows, every space feels fresh, airy, and effortlessly elevated. The main level is designed for the way people live now, open, connected, and perfect for entertaining. A stunning living room with a rebuilt fireplace and custom details flows into a bright sunroom that works beautifully as a home office, reading nook, or lounge space. A spacious dining room is ready for summer dinners and holiday hosting, anchored by an incredible butler's pantry with a beverage fridge, copper sink, and Sub-Zero ice maker, because entertaining should feel easy. At the heart of the home, the chef's kitchen is truly a centerpiece: Wolf + Sub-Zero appliances, dual Waterstone faucets, a walk-in pantry, and a stunning 10-foot island where everyone naturally gathers, whether it's coffee in the morning, homework after school, or cocktails before a night in the village. The kitchen opens to a light-filled family room with a stone fireplace and casual eating area, all overlooking the backyard, an outdoor space built for beach-town living. A bluestone patio features a built-in Big Green Egg, gas grill, and outdoor storage, and the professionally landscaped yard is expansive, even large enough for a pool. A mudroom with three closets and a dog wash station (or to wash those sandy toes) makes post-beach cleanup a breeze. Upstairs, the primary suite is a true retreat with a private balcony (wired and plumbed for a hot tub + sound system), gas fireplace, two walk-in closets, and a spa-like bath with a cast iron soaking tub, oversized steam shower, heated floors, and dual vanities. Three additional bedrooms are bright and spacious, including one ensuite, perfect for guests or anyone who loves a little extra privacy. And the third floor is the ultimate space, a full lounge level with custom built-ins, a kitchenette with wet bar + Sub-Zero fridge, and a private bedroom with an ensuite bath. It's perfect for guests, teens, an au pair, or what today's buyers want most: a quiet home office or creative space away from the main living areas. The finished lower level adds even more flexibility with 9-foot ceilings, poured concrete floors, Sonos sound, a movie room, game room, gym with full bath, second laundry, and a temperature-controlled wine cellar. Just steps to the lake and minutes to the village, parks, Central Elementary, and the Metra, 412 Central is Wilmette at its best: classic, bright, and fully updated for an effortless lakefront lifestyle.

  • A.e.wolff
"Family environment. Summer beach nights. Open spaces and parks. Amazing schools with good progression. "
  • Aaron Walter
"Lots of other dogs in the neighborhood. Most everyone cleans up after their pets. The sidewalks are great for long walks. Lots of open spaces to play."
  • Hyun Y.
"V affluent area with diversity. Great school system, safe and clean. Can’t complain. Very kids friendly"
  • Smithp78
"Easy to commute to downtown via Metra. Not always easy to find parking at Metra after 7:15. A lot of people walk. Possible to drive downtown but takes up to 90 minutes in morning rush. "
  • Shannon J.
"People are extremely welcoming and friendly. We moved here a few months ago, and have never felt so immediately at home in a community!"
  • Iltonz
"I see people walking their dogs all the time, and they seemed happy! There are great parks and green areas for dogs in general."
  • Cheryl
"Lots of responsible dog owners walking their dogs in this area. People pick up after their dogs. Xxxxxxxxx"
  • Iam.pethcha
"The sidewalks are super clean which I can not find it anywhere like here also i feel safe living here even walking here at night time."
  • Jujujuice
"Lots of families. It’s a real community feel and people are very neighborly. And of course, great schools!"
  • Teresa
"Clean & wide sidewalks, many parks, fenced in dog beach plus another dog park. Many people own dogs & walk them several times a day. "
  • Zean N.
"It’s an amazing place to raise a family. Clean. Safe. Great schools. Close to the lake. Close to Chicago but far enough away to have a small town community feel. "
  • Miriam H
"Having a CTA station within a mile from our house makes the commute to Chicago doable. Depending on the day driving to and from the city during rush hour using Lakeshore or 94 is a hassle..."
  • Adroaras
"Certain parks are closed to dogs, but overall this is a dog friendly neighborhood. Also most of the parks have a poop bag station."
  • Satish Kumar
"very diverse demographics than past years! vibrant community, great facilities, amazing schools and school staff."
  • Teresa K.
"Great. All back roads to NU. never have to get on the free way. Only mild back UPS on Greenbay avenue during rush hour. There are lots of schools along the way which can slow you down due to buses and speed zones but that is the least of my worries "
  • Charles A.
"There are plenty of sidewalks and parks in the area. The only problem is there are no legal off leash parks within walking distance. "
  • Masahito J.
"Great schools, safe neighborhood, kids ride their bikes everywhere worry-free. Shops within walking distance. Great beach. Close to Chicago. "
  • Teresa K.
"very safe and very well maintained. prices are okay compared to our neighbors in Evanston. some neighborhoods, the houses all look the same but I enjoy the older neighborhoods where the homes have lots of old charm and character "
  • Keassouad
"Lake with beach, schools, access, community, restaurants, athletics, space to play transportation and character. "
  • Castle117
"I grew up here. Great forest preserve bike trails, the beach, pool clubhouse, and an excellent school district. "
  • cdtangney
"I have lived on and off in Wilmette for 30+ years. Grew up here. Eventually moved back here to raise my own family. Its one of the safest places in the country. The schools are excellent. The parks are beautiful, clean and have updated equipment. The Park District, With all that it has to offer for kids and adults, is incredible. The people are actively involved throughout the neighborhood. There are a few new dining and nightlife venues that are helping to make Wilmette all inclusive. Access to a great pool facility and one of the best beaches on the North shore just make it for this area. I highly recommend Wilmette to any young couple getting started, to anyone wanting to raise a family and to those looking to finish out their lives filled with quiet beauty in a safe place."
  • cg
"Have lived here for 10 years. The schools are superb and the people are like people anywhere. Some are nice and some are snotty but you can ignore them. Its great for the things that matter. Traffic getting into Chicago is usually bad but the Metra train is great."
  • conceptking
"Walking distance to everything - CTA, Metra, Parks, Beach, shopping in Wilmette and Evanston Central St. area. And a short drive to Sheridan Road/LSD and i-94.Phenomenal for families of all ages with nationally recognized and award winning schools. A fantastic and safe neighborhood and a hidden gem that borders Evanston. If there's a house that's within your budget range, make an offer - you will not be disappointed. "
  • lindamcz123
"I used to live in this community years ago and loved every day. There are two malls within walking distance. A couple of bus lines that can take you the the downtown train. Excellent expressway access going both north or south. The Park district is right across the street with an amazing Gym, child care and much, much more. LOVE Wilmette, and this area of it."
