At the base of ''The Hill'' in Great Barrington and just Steps to Downtown!
Undeniably charming, with classic details and tasteful updates, this turn of the century home is a rare find in a very sought after neighborhood. Mere steps to downtown, yet quietly tucked away from the hum of Main Street, this 3 bedroom is ideally located for those desiring convenience and community in an authentic home. Wonderful features abound, including the original living room fireplace, sunroom with morning light pouring in, dining room with original windows and built-in cabinets, kitchen with soapstone counters and yesteryear pantry, and second floor porch overlooking a tranquil backyard. The land at 41 Castle St was owned by E. F. Searles circa 1900 and the home was possibly constructed in connection with the Housatonic Railroad (subsequently the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad) about 1906. The home, sits across from the site of Great Barrington's handsome and historic railroad station (not currently in use). The antique glass throughout the home, renovated bathroom with historic charm, gleaming wood floors, and crafted architectural details all evoke this property's unique history .
Just a few more steps beyond the old station is all that makes Great Barrington the most vibrant town in the Berkshires in the 21st century - from the Mahaiwe Theater to excellent dining, art galleries, diverse shopping, cafes, groceries, and a weekend farmer's market. Come see this special home before it's gone!

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Muddy Brook for 5 years and will be there for 5 more. We LOVE this school. Problems are handled proactively and the teachers not only focus on academics, but social skills as well. They teach about inclusion, kindness and empathy. My kids have never said they didn't want to go to school. As parents, when we hit a parenting challenge, the teachers made positive recommendations for us to help us get answers. The school not only supports its kids, but supports the parents, too.Parent Review5y ago - W.E.B. Du Bois Regional Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school district discriminates, does not follow the state federal guidelines for children with special needs, and would rather toss them aside, because they just don't want to deal with the behavioral children,a suit will be filled and public awarrness will be widely known, the now bullying law and no child left behind is not being implemented at this district. Its the teachers and the system that we need to protect our children from.signed a mother who will fight for her childs rights yParent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 41 Castle St.

"As a parent who grew up all over this country, GB is a great place to raise a family. However, if you’re a kid, there’s nothing to do 8 months out of the year. Small children, I’d say 5 and under, go stir crazy durning the winter months. There is nothing indoors for children to do. Teenagers get into trouble because they “look” for things to do for excitement. There are no sidewalks for children to walk on, and no bicycle paths for children to get around on. This is one of the deciding factors for us moving to San Antonio, TX. "

"too many dog owners walk their dogs without a leash. Making it dangerous for both other dog owners and pedestrians. on occasion, owners dont pick up after their dogs, but I have lived where the practice is much worse "
