4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLearning: Learning at this school has been more than a nightmare I make little progress and get scolded for not catching on.\SpEd classes: From an inside source and watching how they act; they are treated like babies and when they don't get their way, they make a big fuss about it because of the fact they do what they want. Also! they don't learn at all they simply play Minecraft, and do the equivalent of below 5th grade math or whatever subject they are in at the time most the time (coming from an 8th grade SpEd studentTeachers/Teaching: The teachers are ok some are very bad, others are good. the bad teachers are very Strick and usually don't let the students do anything or they were to be called out because of it, teaching is ok, but as I said there is little progress in students.Safety: the safety isn't the biggest problem as when stuff like someone says they are going to shoot up the school happens lots of police officers are told to go on the near campuses, though the biggest problem is the fact that the school is REALLY dirty, and you can easily find at least one cockroach somewhere in the school main building. also bullying is a very bad problem, if you're not the bully's friend your someone to harass and be mean to.social-emotional/family engagement: depression is a big factor and emotion in teenagers which isn't solved, they simply give the students a program to report people saying I'm going to kill myself and do basically nothing about it they console them and pay a little more attention to them but that's it. for the family engagement it's not that bad though it could be a tad better especially with 504/IEP related topics (note: teachers don't follow 504 only IEP as IEP is a legal doc and 504 is a suggestion that is told to be follow (it's not)Student Review2mo ago - Sand Ridge Elementary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot happy that my tax dollars pay these people. I look over the reviews from before 2010, and believe the school has been having negative reviews removed for the past few years. This school faculty is barely adequate to teach the children at the state average, let alone develop high performing citizens. This is an unfortunate lesson that I would have preferred to know before I moved to the area, but the recent data on this school seems to be unavailable. I would not have my children attend this school if I had known how below par the faculty really is. The PTO only recently returned, and I felt that every time we visited the school that they really didn't want parents involved. During school events (open house, parent-teacher conferences, etc), it is clear that the teachers don't want to discuss anything with the parents and there is an air of "everything is great"... but, once grades come out, it quickly becomes clear they were not telling the truth at all. One parent-teacher conference there was a teacher that had something to the effect of "Ms. So-and-so is the boss and you will do whatever she says" on the dry-erase board, and she quickly erased it during the conference. When teachers avoid parents, or hide things from parents, it is clear that there is something not right with the quality, structure, management, or supervision of the school faculty.Parent Review5y ago - Check out schools near 406 Sumrell Way.
