3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSequoia is a pretty good school when you look at things loke technology and appearance, (new tablets and classrooms), but in all honesty, the students are dreadful. Well, most of them. There is a lot of drama, fights, and unnessasary rudeness. Its really hard for me to work in an environment where kids are yelling across the classroom calling each other names, nevermind the fact that when I actually do my work and refuse to let others cheat off of what I worked for and they didnt, they get offended. Its quite rediculous. Im coming back for eighth grade, but only because I dont want to go through the hassle of making more friends again at a new school....but on a better note, the clubs and sich are really fun, such as Outdoor Club, After School Program, ect. (Colorgaurd is my favorite thing, honestly.)Other Review9y ago - Winchell Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA much touted benefit this year is the free lunch program for all FUSD schools (which also includes free breakfast and snacks). The problem is the extraordinary amount of waste. The amount of plastic waste used to wrap the trays, individual food items and utensils is enough to shrink wrap a baby whale. Fresh cooked meals would employ Fresno locals and businesses; instead microwaved lunch plates typically include something like meat patty, cornbread (wrapped), diced fruit (wrapped), utensils (wrapped). The amount of unrecycled waste per classroom is extraordinary. One classroom uses two 33 gallon sized plastic garbage cans per day filled with a mix of construction paper, towels, uneaten food, drinks, etc. It is appalling that teachers are sending messages that waste is okay. The school should set aside the uneaten, unopened food for sharing or recycling. The school district policy of free food parochialism seems to equates largesse with waste, as if the more waste means more accomplished. FUSD should use their free lunch program to instill character rather than perpetuate low self-esteem, class-consciousness, and adult narcissism.Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 4054 E Lane Ave.

"Lots of stray dogs and local neighborhood dogs who are allowed to get out and roam the neighborhood. Makes it hard to walk your dog because there’s always a chance you’ll encounter these dogs... I’ve had my dogs attacked quite a few times and I finally had to stop walking them in the neighborhood. "

"I have visited some businesses in this area. I can’t say too much about the safety of this neighborhood as I do not live here. I do have a couple of relatives that I visit often around this location and they have lived here a long time. I feel comfortable visiting during the day and I know the neighborhood had improved quite a bit from years ago when there was gang violence, it’s much quieter and calm. "
