About this House

Hey Everyone!

Duke students, fraternities, sororities or sports teams welcome, as well as other groups. This listing is available for 8/1/2026 for next academic year of fall 2026. If you apply, please leave your phone number directly in the Zillow message, and call me and leave your name and phone number with your group.

I have my entire new construction 4 bedroom/2.5bathroom 2000 sq. ft. house for rent (all duke students welcome) available in one of the safest neighborhoods in Durham just under 2 miles via the FREE Duke bus route located just one short block from the house taking you via 5-7 minute bus ride to Duke West, East and Central Campus, Duke University Hospital (where many of your clinical rotations will be) door to door, Duke Eye Center, Duke Cancer Center, Durham Veteran Affairs Hospital as well as downtown Durham. There is also an option to get the house fully furnished where you move in and it's turn key that way you don't have to waste $15,000 furnishing the place.

The house itself will save you 40-50% in housing and utility costs compared to market rent apartments or homes in the area with no rental increases as I can do long term multi year leases or short term depending on preference.

You're also less than 1 mile from the local Harris Teeter Grocery Store, CVS Pharmacy, Auto Mechanic, etc., as seen in the photos when you scroll.

Availability will be on a first come first serve basis and if this post is up it is still available. You can either rent the entire house or per bedroom with people in your cohort or program. Ideally looking for Duke Medical Residents, Medical Students, Nursing Students, Engineering, Working Professionals, Doctors, PHD's, Families, Undergraduate Students, Visiting Students etc., everyone is welcome. I'm simply renting the house out to pay the mortgage and want it well kept. My wife and I built this luxury house and she got a job out of state, hence we relocated.

The beauty of this house is that as you can see you don't need a car due to the bus route and proximity to local your job, school, and daily living needs.

The bolded blue dot in the bus route photo is the location of the house and FREE DATA bus stop/route which is 1 block (5 min walk from the house, and the bus itself is a 5-7 minute ride to Duke Campus, with stops right in front of Duke Medical Center as well).

FYI the parking situation for Duke students and employees is bad, you pay for the parking pass but you only get a remote lot pass, which means you drive to the lot, and have to take a bus or walk far into school and back to the parking lot after class adding almost an hour to your commute each day (in the winter it snows heavy, gets very cold, and it rains heavy in general in North Carolina year round). I did it as a nurse and student and it was not fun.

Furthermore all parking garages are shared with Duke hospital staff and employees which employs thousands of people who start their job and park between 6am and 7 AM leaving the garage without spots for your class, clinical or job times. Hence with the convenience of this house and it's location you will never need to worry about that saving you dozens of hours of time and $1000s in parking cost savings.

It comes with a 2 car garage, and parking for over 7 vehicles, California closets, master with private bathroom, HVAC central air and heating, washer, dryer, gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, porch, backyard, hardwood floors throughout, quartz counter tops, fireplace, back screened elevator porch patio, large backyard for entertaining guests and so much more. You simply turn the key and move in.

The house is National Green Building Standard and Energy Star Certified Home including appliances making utility bills extremely inexpensive and as efficient as possible.

If interested please call the listing number and leave me your group information leaving a detailed message of your groups interest AND message me on Zillow with your details so we can communicate via phone and text to streamline the process as Zillow won't allow me to give out my actual phone number so I need to contact you directly once you leave me your details. If this add is still up the place is still actively for rent. I will be taking my time to find the right group who keep the place clean and nice, if interested please message me or apply. Again undergraduate and graduate Duke Students.

Sincerely,
Spencer

Tenants are responsible for utilities. The house is energy star certified meaning extremely insulated and efficient so the utilities are very inexpensive.

  • Trulia User
"It is a well established community that is weathering the storm that afflicts a city in sudden sporadic growth We will weather this storm and any other . This place is called Home to many whom have lived here through Three or more generations and many newcomers who chose to make this place their new home. I wish I could find an appropriate rental here. I am on the edge in a house I have afforded to live in for twenty-nine yrs. The house was recently sold and I find that I may be under the bridge at age 79 due to so-called gentrification . Durham is known for undermining it's citizens in the name of progress. It's a backhanded way of doing things but it will come out alright because the so-called little people come together when they realize what is happening."
  • Trulia User
"My entire family moved from California to this neighborhood.. it was a big change as everything in life it grew and has gotten to a point where you can walk your dog in the middle of the night and feel safe …. I feel comfortable for my older parent to live there .. everything from the park to the side walks hav improved .. I love Northgate park it’s beautiful neighborhood "
  • Trulia User
"This is traditionally a family friendly neighborhood however the city of Durham is rapidly growing. "
  • Trulia User
"New elementary school coming soon! Nice area with good neighbors. Being in the middle if the triangle area gives great access to many activities and areas."
  • Trulia User
"I commute by private auto (mine)! There are no bus stops or traffic lights off the main thoroughfare. The only sidewalks are on the main thoroughfare!"
  • Trulia User
"I drive it is convenient to Raleigh, Morrisville, chapel hill and downtown Durham . It is close to all the major highways "
  • Trulia User
"Very bike-friendly if you work within the beltway. I drive to work in another town. Easy and enjoyable."
