"This is an older neighborhood with great, solid homes mostly built in the 70’s and 80’s, and quite a few of them are being remodeled. Variety of ages of families. Some retirees, some middle-age families, and even younger families moving in. Though there aren’t sidewalks, the streets are wide and lots of walkers, children riding bikes, etc. Yards are beautiful with plenty of mature trees, deer, flowers, and well-maintained driveways. We love the elementary school around the corner, it’s a sweet little school!"
  • Allison Brunett
"I drive my vehicle to and (From work). The bus is pretty accessible. There’s a train that runs out of this city."
  • Chessi Gratz
"There are other dog owners that seem friendly and lots of trails to walk for your little furry friend to get out and enjoy nature. "
  • Rakim Carey
"It’s unique and everybody mind there business. They all celebrate the holidays with lights and beautiful food."
  • Tamilitchford
"Non. Dangerous. No public transportation but it is ok. Quiet and silence. . "
  • Pinky3pwomise
"Great for families. Easy going people. Lots of fast food, Mexican food,& sports bars. Very safe area. "
  • Amber Evans
"I don’t have dogs but people seem comfortable with their dogs in this area I often see people walk by my windows with dogs "
  • Trulia User
"You will be amazed how much stuff there is to do, plus not to mention a line of Jobs in the area that will sustain you to live in the area for a good while! A lifetime area to live!"
  • Trulia User
"It’s very quiet and everybody tends to their own home. And overall it’s a great neighborhood to live in."
  • Trulia User
"my street is right off of a highway and we only have 5 other families on our road. we all look out for eachother. it's 15 minutes from anything you could ever need"
  • Trulia User
"it's a dog friendly community which is great. I have a dog and love all dogs but I feel like I'm the only one that actually picks up after their dog. I get the fact that it's gross and all, but if you can't simply pick up after your dog then maybe you shouldn't have one. "
  • Trulia User
"Good community as there is a mixture of older and newer generations. Public transportation is available."
  • Trulia User
"we just moved to this area last week. the schools were our main reason for purchasing this home. The neighbors have been friendly but most of the homes on our block (new construction) haven't been purchased yet. "
  • Trulia User
"I've lived in this area for over 14 years and the schools are great and the neighbors are easy to get along with."
  • Trulia User
"Leashes are a must; no dog parks. No places for you to get your dog water when it is hot out. Be prepared for that!"
  • Trulia User
"very friendly people live here and prices are fair. shopping is close by as well. very quiet too. historic district is nearby as well."
  • Trulia User
"It’s a nice neighborhood and the people are friendly . It’s just like any other place to live and it’s lovely "
  • Trulia User
"I would say it's pretty good place. Naturally, as most places have, there are some creeps around every now n then. They're pretty easy to ignore though. it's also kinda hard to find homes if you want to stay in one district. So you probably should get over that little detail. they have like 5 different schools in one city. I DON'T GET IT."
  • William H.
"There are nice parks in the area. Certain neighborhoods are a bit sketchy but most of the city is very safe. Many people keep to themselves while being open to conversation when engaged. Downtown is really on the rise with renovation and new business. The city and surrounding county schools provide sound education with an impressive focus on special needs and vocational excellence."
  • Winona B.
"Close to everything , public transit, grocery stores, department stores, convenient stores, laundromats, restaurants and gas stations and a game room "
  • Memrose
"Depends on your dogs. Mine are not very social with other dogs so it can be a hassle walking them with so many other dogs around. "
  • Carroll B.
"good family neighborhood and its pretty quiet there as well. highly recommended. also a good walking area"
  • Robert F.
"Not overly Happy about Schools in area. Crowded and no new Schools scheduled to be built. Otherwise Great Area."
  • Cameron W.
"It is good for walks. It is dog friendly. There is plenty of grass and there are complementary bags for picking up dog poop. "
  • Elizabeth C.
"Commute is great except for rude drivers. LU students congest Wards Road to the point I often turn around"
  • Rachel D.
"Great places to walk. All sidewalks are well maintained and you are always a short distance from parks and/or an extensive trail system. "
  • Elizabeth C.
"It’s great—can get anywhere in ten minutes or so. Access to main routes and expressway is fine. only good thing about living here, plus cable TV I would hate to give up."
  • Allen B.
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 18 years. It’s a friendly place. Great for walking the dog. It’s really quiet and peaceful. I feel safe here."
  • Abigallee1999
"The view, and how close some businesses are. Friendly people and nice business owners too. Haven’t lived here very long but have had a nice experience."
  • Javier R.
"My area is conveniently located near rt 29 and rt460 making it easy to get around. Minutes from multiple shopping plazas, supermarkets and mall also. "
  • Dustin D.
"the Lynchburg area is a college propeled town constantly changing and had lovely country side mixed with city it's for people who want both just seperated."
  • T
"Free dog bags are available. Dog owners are friendly. Although most dog owners pickup, sadly there are still the few who don’t. This makes it bad for everyone else who try to keep the place healthy and clean. The city workers do a great job to add new dirt from time to time which helps a lot."
  • Sawizy
"Our local Parks & Rec provides a lot of activities & events for the community. We have dog friendly restaurants and great trails to check out. "
  • D.burgess
"Love my neighbors love the wide streets we have and having street lights is important to me so we can see to walk our dogs "
  • Aesweeney93
"About a 15 minute drive. Not too bad unless there’s traffic. No problem getting there on time. No real public transport though. "
  • Carmen J.
"we look out for our neighbors and take care of our property low crime rate and close access to all main roads "
  • Cory A.
"Great friendly neighbors and well maintained sidewalks. City has kept crime under control. Love the charity events the community puts together to help local people and local charities. "
  • Ali C.
"Lots of local wine festivals, music festivals, international festivals, food fairs, Get Downtown (venders come with live music, food trucks, games and Main St is closed off for the evening) "
  • Hannah M. A.
"Downtown Lynchburg has a lot of new restaurants and bars that are fun to go to. The crowds are always upbeat and friendly. Downtown has done a lot to inspire the arts and has done a lot of renovations. I frequent many of the bars downtown and have never had a bad experience. Everything is within walking distance and there are plenty of places to park. There is a farmers market in town as well. "
  • Eddie
"4 minute drive to work each way. 3 traffic signals, barely any traffic, nice scenery. On the way I pass historic sites, grocery stores, convenience stores, and fast food chains"
