8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is enrolled in their Head Start program and it is the first time he has been enrolled in anything. (No daycare, or babysitters, etc.) As a firs time mom it was challenging in the beginning to let him go alone. The Head Start teacher Mr. Jaime and his TA Ms. Fanny were very kind and reassuring. Kept us updated and encouraged questions. If I addressed any concerns (consistent meanness from another child) they were on top of keeping watch to ensure nothing happened or to immediately stop the behavior. Every morning they do temperature checks and make it a point to speak with each parent and child. My son that did not want to go to school, now looks forward to it and I'm happy that the teachers are very aware and involved with the kids in their care. (I only gave 3 stars for special education, because I don't have any experience with that and it didn't have a NA option)Parent Review3y ago3 Reviews - Garvey (Richard) Intermediate School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a follow-up to my review last year.....My son has still not read any books in his English classes, although he is doing well at plugging along on Teachers-pay-teachers curriculum. Really, every other class has been well run and effective. I am SERIOUSLY concerned with how he will do in high school English. When I attended Garvey we had to read a novel every 2 or 3 weeks.....wow how times have changed.Maybe the admin can chime in on why they are not reading books? Why do you have a library?Parent Review1y ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near 402 E Hellman Ave.

"My family has lived in Monterey Park for over 59 years and it’s one of the best cities to live in. A very multicultural neighborhood with Annual events where for the last 50 years has had PlayDay’s Carnival every 2nd Saturday of every year one that my grandchildren now attend. There’s the Chinese New Year celebrations with parades with a very cool feel to the city. There are so many places to eat at and so many different styles of cooking. Monterey Park is a city where our neighbors are family or familiar with one another! ✨"

"Busy but easy. It makes getting around simpler and with everything within walking distance it’s a less expensive way to get around the neighborhood. "

"Peaceful and respectful neighbors. Easy access to shopping by foot or automobile. On weekends, some gatherings are a bit noisy well into the evening, but closing windows takes care of it. Mostly condos between Graves and Garvey east of Garfield. About 5-8 minutes to either 10 or 60 fwy. From there its typical Los Angeles traffic. "

"It's a very quiet neighborhood. If you have dogs you may get some complaints if your dog barks loud late in the evenings or early mornings. Other than that it's a great place for pets. There's a park/school down the street. Lots of room for a dog to run and find new places to mark their territory."
