Description

This 5 bedroom, 4 full/1 half bath French country farmhouse on an extra wide nearly quarter acre lot is like new construction. Complete gut rehab down to the studs in a year-long, renovation in 2010, with many key updates again since. The scope of the renovation included everything imaginable, including reworking the roofline, interior flow, and the layout of every room. In this home you'll find everything that you want and need, and nothing that you don't. Large, chic farmhouse eat-in kitchen updated in 2019 has the accoutrements you'd expect with premium stainless appliances, 48" 6-burner + griddle professional stove with two ovens, farm sink, island, etc. Additional 1st floor special features include office with French doors and built-ins as well as large well-organized mudroom with 5 custom cubbies (including hooks, 2 upper shelves for swapping summer and winter gear baskets, and bottom shelves for shoes and boots) and two built-in accessory cabinets to keep all of your misc. pet, coolers picnic, beach and deck elements organized and close at hand. Hard-wired mudroom garage door openers are a breezy option for opening and closing the garage doors. Four spacious bedrooms on the 2nd floor with 3 updated full baths (large master bath, en suite bath, hall bath). The finished basement was dug-out to full-height ceiling with a sophisticated commercial grade waterproofing system including interior and exterior drains and sump pumps. The basement consists of the 5th bedroom (with Egress), spa full bath, rec room, exercise room, laundry room and work/mechanical room. Not a squeaky floor board to be found, with new wood floors throughout entire home, including a new staircase to the 2nd floor. Everything else is new too including HVAC system, plumbing, electrical, windows (new construction windows, not replacement windows), roof, gutters. Everything. There is a stunning new 2.5 car garage with driveway parking for 4 additional cars includes a permanent staircase leading to 2nd floor - amazing additional storage with such easy access. The piece de resistance is the back deck, arguably, the nicest in East Wilmette. Perfect for al fresco dining and entertaining, feel like you are on vacation all the time with covered outdoor room, dining area, grill area (with built-in gas line), 24/7 gas lanterns, historic iron gate fencing, wired speakers, lighting, and curtains. The deck is accessible via French doors off the kitchen or the family room. Paver walkways, professional landscaping, and vegetable garden, potting bench complete the package. The outdoor shower with hot and cold water is perfect after a workout or a sandy day at the beach. Whole house generator is the cherry on top to insure against unexpected Midwest weather. A few seconds after power goes out the generator kicks in and everything is up and running for total stress-free comfort. Coveted location across from Maple Park, and easy walk to Gillson Park/Beach, 4th & Linden shops, "L" train, schools and everything in downtown Wilmette. The size of this home is quite remarkable and deceptively large, with spacious rooms and nice flow. You will find the details in this home to exceed expectations, in a location that can't be beat.

"Family environment. Summer beach nights. Open spaces and parks. Amazing schools with good progression. "
  • Aaron Walter
"Lots of other dogs in the neighborhood. Most everyone cleans up after their pets. The sidewalks are great for long walks. Lots of open spaces to play."
  • Hyun Y.
"V affluent area with diversity. Great school system, safe and clean. Can’t complain. Very kids friendly"
  • Smithp78
"Easy to commute to downtown via Metra. Not always easy to find parking at Metra after 7:15. A lot of people walk. Possible to drive downtown but takes up to 90 minutes in morning rush. "
  • Shannon J.
"People are extremely welcoming and friendly. We moved here a few months ago, and have never felt so immediately at home in a community!"
  • Iltonz
"I see people walking their dogs all the time, and they seemed happy! There are great parks and green areas for dogs in general."
  • Cheryl
"Lots of responsible dog owners walking their dogs in this area. People pick up after their dogs. Xxxxxxxxx"

"The sidewalks are super clean which I can not find it anywhere like here also i feel safe living here even walking here at night time."
  • Jujujuice
"Lots of families. It’s a real community feel and people are very neighborly. And of course, great schools!"
  • Teresa
"Clean & wide sidewalks, many parks, fenced in dog beach plus another dog park. Many people own dogs & walk them several times a day. "
  • Zean N.
"It’s an amazing place to raise a family. Clean. Safe. Great schools. Close to the lake. Close to Chicago but far enough away to have a small town community feel. "
  • Miriam H
"Having a CTA station within a mile from our house makes the commute to Chicago doable. Depending on the day driving to and from the city during rush hour using Lakeshore or 94 is a hassle..."
  • Adroaras
"Certain parks are closed to dogs, but overall this is a dog friendly neighborhood. Also most of the parks have a poop bag station."
  • Satish Kumar
"very diverse demographics than past years! vibrant community, great facilities, amazing schools and school staff."
  • Teresa K.
"Great. All back roads to NU. never have to get on the free way. Only mild back UPS on Greenbay avenue during rush hour. There are lots of schools along the way which can slow you down due to buses and speed zones but that is the least of my worries "
  • Charles A.
"There are plenty of sidewalks and parks in the area. The only problem is there are no legal off leash parks within walking distance. "
  • Masahito J.
"Great schools, safe neighborhood, kids ride their bikes everywhere worry-free. Shops within walking distance. Great beach. Close to Chicago. "
  • Teresa K.
"very safe and very well maintained. prices are okay compared to our neighbors in Evanston. some neighborhoods, the houses all look the same but I enjoy the older neighborhoods where the homes have lots of old charm and character "
  • Keassouad
"Lake with beach, schools, access, community, restaurants, athletics, space to play transportation and character. "
  • Castle117
"I grew up here. Great forest preserve bike trails, the beach, pool clubhouse, and an excellent school district. "
  • cdtangney
"I have lived on and off in Wilmette for 30+ years. Grew up here. Eventually moved back here to raise my own family. Its one of the safest places in the country. The schools are excellent. The parks are beautiful, clean and have updated equipment. The Park District, With all that it has to offer for kids and adults, is incredible. The people are actively involved throughout the neighborhood. There are a few new dining and nightlife venues that are helping to make Wilmette all inclusive. Access to a great pool facility and one of the best beaches on the North shore just make it for this area. I highly recommend Wilmette to any young couple getting started, to anyone wanting to raise a family and to those looking to finish out their lives filled with quiet beauty in a safe place."
  • cg
"Have lived here for 10 years. The schools are superb and the people are like people anywhere. Some are nice and some are snotty but you can ignore them. Its great for the things that matter. Traffic getting into Chicago is usually bad but the Metra train is great."
  • conceptking
"Walking distance to everything - CTA, Metra, Parks, Beach, shopping in Wilmette and Evanston Central St. area. And a short drive to Sheridan Road/LSD and i-94.Phenomenal for families of all ages with nationally recognized and award winning schools. A fantastic and safe neighborhood and a hidden gem that borders Evanston. If there's a house that's within your budget range, make an offer - you will not be disappointed. "
  • lindamcz123
"I used to live in this community years ago and loved every day. There are two malls within walking distance. A couple of bus lines that can take you the the downtown train. Excellent expressway access going both north or south. The Park district is right across the street with an amazing Gym, child care and much, much more. LOVE Wilmette, and this area of it."
