"The homes in my surrounding area are built very close together so that there is little to no yard in the front, back or sides of the houses (except in very rare instances). Since I am thinking of getting a dog, I have tried to locate area dog parks because in the past my dogs, and I, have really enjoyed them. Unfortunately I have yet to locate one within a reasonable distance. There is however, a rail to trail system that we could use. I’m just not sure if dogs have to be leashed as long as they are under their owner’s control. Another thing I’ve noticed in this area; few people with dogs that I have come across here (I’ve lived here since fall ā€˜19) actually train their dogs. I have seen dogs jump out of parked car windows; run leash-less down the middle of a fairly busy street that one side of my house overlooks, and other horrifying scenarios. I’m not sure why owners are so adverse to proper training, especially if it leads to keeping their dogs out of hazardous situations. I just hope they are not just as lax with vet care and vaccinations. "

"We have been in Carbondale for almost 3 years now and we love it. Small town feel with all the amenities. Our 15 year old walks to and from school everyday with no issues. Close enough to walk to a 100 year old bakery or 105 year old barber shop! "

"Knowing the people around u and walk to places like weis and the dollar tree and burger king and walk to McDonald's and walk to family house"
  • Mchalecrnp
"Nice older neighborhood close to town. The YMCA and new Heritage trail is walking distance, as well as pharmacies, shopping and restaurants."
  • Xkim33
"Ive lived here for a few years. everyones friendly. its a great Lake environment if you like water sports etc. Very family orientated. "
  • John M.
"Most homes in the area are from 75 to over 100 years old. Plenty of character and architectural styles. Quiet with a mixed population ranging from retirees to families with pre-teens. Great neighbors that are willing to associate and help out when needed. Schools are Bronze medal winners in the US News and World reports survey. Carbondale school system works well with special needs students. Shopping is about 1 mile away and McDonnell's restaurant (0.7 mile away) is very family friendly and reasonable with very good food. The Mayor tries his best to put the town back on the map. Taxes are also very reasonable for Lackawanna county."
