"No events lately. Local Churches used to have summer festivals with live bands. Parks have new swing sets and slides. There is an awesome flower and garden at Washington Park. People are friendly."
    • Kewidreams22
"It’s a city hall down the street from me and most of the time it’s packed so I guess that shows the community cares."
    • Ryan S.
"East Chicago has nice homes, schools, parks, and a decent grocery store in Strack & Van Til. Not much else. If you’re looking for entertainment, head north to Chicago or south to Schererville/Merrillville"
    • Freddycastro22
"Every park in the city has been remodeled, unfortunately there isn’t any dog parks in neither. Ample space for dog owners. "
    • Tashea M.
"no great access to public transportation...needs more. need buses for those who doesn't have cars. so that makes the commute horrible "
    • Stephany200265

    • Unspecified
"I live here and some people are very friendly. Stay to yourself and mind your business you will be fine "
    • Gina B.
"The city has undergone many improvements in the last few years but still has a long way to go. The Mayor has invested greatly in public spaces, infrastructure, and public safety but a lot still needs to be done about the under performing schools, lack of public transportation, and few jobs. My side of town (West side near Hammond) is mostly families and relatively safe but still poor schools, no transportation, and no jobs. Very walkable."
    • Charlene C.
"the mayor that runs it now he's making a good change for a Chicago starting to look amazing I love our logo for the community we love our city"
    • Tiesha L.
"I rarely see ppl walk there dogs in this neighborhood which is sad but there’s always hope for the future"
    • Amadeus H.
"There are many family’s in the neighborhood. The area is safe but I wouldn’t walk alone at night. The closest parks are big and beautiful. "
    • Jackie A. W.
"I don’t know. I have to move. Sometimes they shoot in this area. I believemyneighbors are gang related. I'll retired and don't want to live around this. I would like a quiet neighborhood vwhere I'm not afraid to go outside. "
    • Jadamswilds
"Bigger and more playgrounds. More entertainment for the kids. I think we need another major grocery store in the harbor and a Chase Bank "
    • Truth
"These prices for Hammond IN are ridiculous. There is pollution and working class people here. This is not the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago. No one is paying $200K for a house made of siding. Get real. Let the prices reflect the neighborhood and not these scam investors retirement jackpot."
    • Mzchitwnsa
"it is a decent area to live in. I mind my own business but am courteous and considerate of my neighbors. we all look out for each oher"
    • Josierod123
